About
Prague Zoological Garden is situated near the center of the Czech capital, in a unique rugged landscape on the bank of the Vltava River. It opened in 1931 and during its existence of more than 80 years it has risen to become one of the most prestigious zoos in the world. Today, it is the second most visited tourist destination in the Czech Republic, just after Prague Castle. 5,049 animals and 676 species live in Prague Zoo. You can explore 13 pavilions and 150 exhibits over 58 hectares. The kids will love the Bororo Reserve, chairlift, mini-train, observation tower, paddling pool and Children’s Zoo. The pride of the zoo is its Elephant Valley, home to a sizeable herd of Asian elephants. The Giant Salamander House, where you can see the largest amphibians in the world – the critically endangered Chinese Giant Salamanders – is extraordinary as well; and the African House with an adjacent vast meadow inhabited by herds of antelopes and giraffes is worth your attention, too.

In hindsight it might have been wrong to choose the first day of Easter holiday, the zoo was packed and the line for tickets was around 20min. Unfortunately the server was down and we were not able to buy the tickets online so we had to wait. Apart from few very congested places (lion feeding, gorillas enclosure, seal feeding and kangaroo feeding) the zoo was not that crowded after all (even with almost 6000 guest at a time). The Prague zoo continues to develop to better accommodate guests as well as animals. Enclosures are becoming more natural and suited for the animal needs yet still allowing the guests viewing them. the ticket prices were rising throughout the years only slightly thanks to various donation programs. Ticket for adult is 250CZK (cca 13$). Its a very nice and entertaining walk. There is a lot of refreshment huts and restaurants, plenty of facilities.

I have been to the 10+ biggest and top-listed zoos in Europe. This is without doubt the best one (better than Schonbrunn zoo which is often listed first). Animals are kept in a good environment. The zoo is extemely well maintained, the environment is green, you can find secret trails everywhere. The educational signs are interesting, ton of experiences for children (Kangaroo trail is a must). Take your time to appreciate the details of the zoo - we spent 5 hours, but if you have several days in Prague, I recommend 1 day. 100% worth the price of the ticket which is not expensive (8€).

I wish there was an app to help you go around the zoo in a rational way, some suggested itineraries and a place where to find a timetable of all feedings.

Excellent priced zoo (worked out around £9per person). well looked after animals and an amazing range of animals to see. The crocodiles particularly impressive! easy to get to using public transport (using google maps). We bought a 72hour public transport ticket from the airport for 300kr and this covered all our trips around the city.

Huge zoo, excellent value for money. It was very quiet when we went and the weather was bad so most animals had gone inside but you could still see them. Prepare for lots of walking though, my fitbit measured that we’d done 6 kilometres whilst walking around the zoo! For food, we each got a chicken curry near the elephant exhibit which was reasonably priced, and was labelled as gluten free which I needed. The only downfall was that the polar bears had a small enclosure and were pacing up and down which I have heard they do when they are stressed. There were plans on display for their new, larger enclosure, but no details of when this is due to be made.

The zoo itself is quite wonderful. It’s located on a beautiful hill and the amount of different animal species is impressive. There are also plenty of restaurants and cafes all around the place.

It took us a total of 7 hours to visit every single animal there was to see, so the entry price is most definitely worth it. The only poor things in the zoo are the lack of English signs and the somewhat rude customer service of the staff there.

We weren't going to go to the zoo but are so glad we did. It is amazing. The entry cost was within anybody's budget. I am over 70 and in English money it cost 1p (one penny) for me to get in! All I had to do was produce my passport. The cost for an adult was approx £7. There were many local families there and it's not surprising because of the cost of entry.

The zoo is vast and there are numerous animals including polar bears, elephants, tigers, penguins and all the usual zoo animals but so many others. The whole place was clean and tidy, with seating, toilets and cafes everywhere.

It was quite hilly in some places, so if you are not very mobile this is worth thinking about, but everywhere is wheelchair accessible.

We were there for about 6 hours and could have stayed longer. Definitely needs to be on your list of places to visit.

One of the best zoos I’ve been to, set in a wonderful location and prices aren’t expensive. Highly recommend a visit and some lovey views across the city as well as big animal enclosures. We got the tram and bus from city centre, cheap and only 30 mins away

Its almost 15 min by Uber from center of Prague.
Not far ,easy access, should buy ticket on entrance and the price is about 10 euro which is very reasonable.
Has many kinds of animal which i never saw,and each of them are divided by continent or climate,im sorry for some wild ones like tiger ,panter or fishing cat which are in very small area, but needs exactly one day from morning, unfortunately we went on sunday and zoo was full of people, sounds ,and children and i guess most animal were afraid ,so we couldn’t see many kinds of them specially wild ones.
The zoo had some signs to show where you have to go but in some parts also were not any signs and make you confuse!

Loads of animals to see.
Food is nice also.
In the uk you can pay £20 each to go around a zoo this one worked out at £15.35 and that was for to people and a map of the zoo.
The trams and buses are ok to use to get up there for where i was stopping we got the number 12 tram to the bus station and then 112 to the zoo

Very well looked after, the management are clearly interested in animal standard of living as enclosures are spacious and cleaned. Animals had space which is important for a modern zoo and there were no abusive "animal shows". Some European animals like wolves which you very rarely see in other zoos.
Especially recommend the bar restaurant next to the gazelle enclosure, the beer is good and cheap.
A public bus takes you to the zoo, which was fine getting there, but made coming back during rush hour at closing time difficult.
