This is a lovely place to visit, just beware, bars and cafes can be expensive in this area. It is very easy to find as long as you check the names of each place you visit in Czech as all signposts are only in Czech and not in English.

I was there to visit the Christmas Festival and thoroughly enjoyed myself. The Old Town is a compact area and the Christmas Festival was held in the main square. The surrounding area was an intriguing place to explore -- not just the typical tourist sites but to get lost and just meander. Cobblestone streets, wonderful shops, the scent of baking... More

The place is nice and has history but there is also a few homeless and people trying to sell you trips. It's a city so expect standard city things but I didn't really find it wowing. Worth a visit walk the narrow streets and grab a massage.

Walk the streets and sit i one of the famous Prague's cafes or drop in to one of the restaurants. Plenty to choose from. Find yourself that corner, which mostly resembles you and your personality. The Old Town in Prague offers something to everyone. Mix with the tourists and the locals, try some czech dish with cabbage and dumplings. And... More

This is a MUST for your trip to Prague. We stayed in Old Town for three nights in snowy January, a stone's throw from Charles Bridge and just next to the Jewish Quarter. With the Astronomical Clock, street performers and a bustling bar scene all around you, it's easy to get swelled up in the "proper" Prague atmosphere. We've loved... More

In preparation for my trip to Prague, everything I read indicated a visit to Old Town should be at the top of anyone's list of things to do. This was excellent advice as Old Town is a beautiful collection of centuries-old buildings in various styles. There are restaurants on several sides and of course the star is the Astronomical Clock.... More

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighborhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighborhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
