Overview
More
The most significant square of historical Prague, it was founded in the 12th century and has been witness to many historical events. In addition to the Old Town Hall and the Church of Our Lady before Týn, the square is dominated by the Baroque Church of St Nicholas, the Rococo Kinský Palace, the Gothic House at the Stone Bell and the monument to Jan Hus. In the pavement of the square are memorial stones marking the execution of 27 Czech lords in 1621, and the Prague meridian.

We made the mistake of not checking prices on the menu before ordering and ended up paying £30 for coffees and croissants but it was worth it to enjoy being in the middle of the square and watching the world go by.

We visited the Old Town Square on the way to the Jewish Quarter. Stunning buildings and lovely relaxed atmosphere. Well worth a walk through.

A wonderful space in the urban core of the city. It’s many buildings all have interesting tales. Avoid the middle of the day - if you can - when it is packed and instead go in the evening when the buildings are beautifully lit.

It's full of action and places to visit. There are world famous coffee shops as Starbucks but also a lot of traditional Czeck restaurants.

Like the rest of Prague - stunning buildings - & large open space for the crowds to gather. Very (very) popular with tourists, of which were(!), so also attracts a few not so welcome folk loitering around looking for scraps of food & opportunity. Shame...More

Old Town Square is hardly avoidable when travelling through Prague, but the large open space and the occasional festivals and events (and consistent supply of street food) make it somewhere to return to.

One of the oldest neighborhoods in town represents the
medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is
bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický
square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle
in the background, is probably the most beautiful
square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere
of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and
squares, and stone towers blend together with the
