A square

Just a big pedestrian square, the history of the buildings that surround it is quite impressive. The main attraction being the geographical clock.

most of the european cities have similar squares to gather people and these areas are very lively. most of the time there is good music, too. It was fun to be there.

They are everywhere. A great time to visit one of the most enchanting cities in Europe.Great atmosphere all over the city. A lot of visitors so if you are not fond of crowds, this time of year may not be for you. Lots to buy, eat and drink everywhere you look.

Very busy and popular with tourists. Lovely little bars and restaurants but all very expensive. Shops the same. We ended up walking just 5 minutes to side streets and paying half the price.

If you are in Prague it would be difficult to not visit this area as it is in the centre of town and is near to, or contains, other sites that should be seen. We visited in December and the square was filled with a Christmas market and a fantastic Christmas tree. It is especially attractive at night with all... More

Loved everything about it. As a group, like others, we stayed near the square and used it as our focus point for most of our tours and adventures. We loved the Royal Walk from the Powder Tower to the Prague Castle and of course it goes through the square. There are wonderful shops and restaurants, but I would use it... More

The Old town square is stunning, with the different types of architecture and the astronomical clock with it's history. There are plenty of restaurants & pavement cafe's here which are more expensive than restaurants further afield but still reasonably priced. There are a number of shops as well as street vendors but be aware if you buy a ham sandwich... More

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighborhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighborhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
