Located at the Strahov Monastery, the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is a beautiful church rebuilt between 1742-1758 and featuring stunning baroque architecture. It is often closed but we were lucky to get inside when we visited. Entry is free for the church but if you want to go inside the Monastery to see the Strahov Library, you will need to purchase a ticket, but it is well worth it.

The Basilica of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary at Strahov is situated in the heart of the Premonstratensian monastery at Strahov. It is a Romanesque basilica with a Gothic transept and two Renaissance towers with Baroque modifications, added between 1742 and 1758, that give it its current Baroque appearance. The side walls are decorated with frescoes depicting scenes from the life of St Norbert, the founder of the order.

My twin brother and I were exploring around the wonderful Strahov Monastery Complex and passed this beautiful looking church, viewed it before on previous holidays to Prague and it still impresses me.
Church Of The Assumption Of The Virgin Mary Of Strahov is a beautiful church, originally constructed in the Romanesque style of architecture which was changed centuries later to the Baroque style architecture and that is so pleasing on the eye, the church is just so photogenic, its a church that adds to the joy of visiting Strahov Monastery Complex and is most definitely well worth seeking out.

Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary On Strahov - a beautiful, historic church built as part of the monastery. Entrance was free. Unfortunately, I couldn't go up to the altar.
