Neighborhood: Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighborhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.

- MatteoCarrara, Italy4,972 contributionsFirst time.Just to try, since I don't particularly like spirits. The scene while the absinthe is served is evocative and characteristic. After having tasted it, I prefer to continue with my idea of certain alcohols. Still a young place with very friendly staff.Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 1, 2024
- DarbilleNice, France488 contributionsAbsinthe and AlchemyBeautiful place in the heart of Prague. It looks like a museum, or an alchemist's laboratory, obviously specialized in tasting absinthe. Kind waiters will explain how to taste absinthe, complete with sugar flambéed on the typical spoon. An experience to have at least once! The taste is aniseed, and it's very strong (it almost burns along the esophagus)... in short, it heats and it's good!Visited December 2023Traveled with friendsWritten April 4, 2024
- Kier BSheffield, United Kingdom7 contributionsAuthentic and friendly absinthe spot away from the hoards of tourists discovering PragueIn a city where tourists (and tourist traps) are EVERYWHERE, the Absintherie is a breath of fresh air. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and cannot help enough. In particular, Martina was wonderful and made my two friends and I feel so welcome that we stayed sampling the menu for hours on end. This is the perfect place to escape Prague’s tourists and get a feel for an authentic absinthe bar, with beautiful live piano music and friendly faces everywhere you turn.Visited April 2024Traveled with friendsWritten April 21, 2024

Some options too for those who don’t like absinthe, like my husband who had a beer. Knowledgeable and friendly staff.Visited November 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten September 2, 2024
- JulienRoseTurin, Italy1,484 contributionsOf other timesLocal located in one of the streets of the Old Town of Prague. It's been on my list for some time. I had marked it after watching a video on YT recommending a visit and we were pleasantly impressed. Furniture that recalls Art Nouveau and nice team. The cocktails we tried were the Absinth Zombie and Six-Toed Cat, both good and not overly charged. Price slightly high.Visited October 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten October 15, 2024
- Rob007Kent_UKWye, United Kingdom4,116 contributionsThe Mecca of Absinth in PragueWithin its unassuming exterior belies a great bar with a green hue, some old fashioned artefacts on display and a restored gold cash registe. The bar has a lovely vibe and offers over 100 types of absinth including various amazing cocktails. The menu includes alternative options for those who do not like absinth. The staff were really charming, friendly and welcoming. There was a live pianist on our first night which created a lovely atmosphere. We loved this bar so much we returned the following night.Visited December 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten December 28, 2024

What a treat it was on a rainy September day in Prague! Great selection of absinthe, Czech as well as French, Swiss etc. However, as we are here, I only went for Czech varieties and would definitely recommend trying both macerated and distilled version for a full experience. If absinthe alone is a bit much, this charming place also serves selection of cocktails. I’m sure everyone can find something intriguing here and an absintherie is not an experience to be missed in Prague. Young lady serving me was truly knowledgable about her job and I liked everything she recommended. Great, friendly place. Thank you!

A wonderful place - great atmosphere, charming, welcoming and helpful staff. I love this place! It's worth the air fare just to come here! (and the unexpected B52s with the owner were a special treat!)
It's fairly quiet during the day but can get very busy in the evening, especially at the weekend (as you might expect). Absinthe isn't a cheap drink but to my mind, it's worth the extra you pay.
I heartily recommend the Absintherie.

This place is more of an experience than a standard cocktail bar. You will get a chance to participate in absinth drinking ritual with a cool equipment and great quality liquor. It is a rather rare event as not mamy places will serve you the drink with such a care and attention to details. I would only recommend to keep the drink menu on a table so you know exactly which absinth you are tasting. Also this is a cheap shot, so bear this in mind. But in my opinion it is totally worth it.

Very interesting atmoshpere inside, some portions could even be considered part of an absinthe museum. Try the drink for yourself, maybe you'll like it or maybe like me you'll find it tastes like cologne or fuel for some gas lamp or something else you're not supposed to drink. I'd definitely go for cocktails only if I knew better. The staff is bored and inattentive, this kind of experience which I guess is novel for many people, could surely use much better customer care for better information and increased enjoyment.

Before I went last week to this pub I withdrew a 2000 crowns bank note. I was with friends and we drank 2 glasses of abinth per person. We paid per person. The man gave me something like 300 crowns back, but it was supposed to be 1300. I said I paid with 2000 crowns, but he denied it and even showed a 1000 note, which he probably grabbed quickly from somewhere. I was very angry, but what could I do? The bad thing is that I really only had the 2000 note with me. Unfortunately, due to this indecent scammer and arrogant behavior, I will never come here again!

This place is nice! We enjoyed the ambience and historical aspect of this old bar. It definitely has it's motif and it's very popular. Stop by and enjoy at taste of the green fairy. They have a very large selection of absinthe and it's made in many different ways. Be careful and pace yourself or take someone trustworthy with you.

Yet another excellent week here - charming staff, wonderful atmosphere. I’ve been here almost every day and love the place. It’s busier at weekends as you would expect but the staff still manage to treat customers with respect be they debutants or regulars. I hope to be back again next year ( when the bottle of 35 I bought runs out).

This was a great bar. Mixed ages and a fantastic vibe. I'd never had Absinthe before and the waitresses took their time to talk through my likes/dislikes. Service and music were great. Definitely give it a go!

Wow! What a cool, quirky bar.
Came here with my friend on our second night in Prague to sit, relax and have some absinthe. I'd never had it before, so found the whole experience quite daunting. I went for the beetle absinthe. I did struggle with every sip because it is of course a very strong drink, but I'd say overall it was an enjoyable experience.
Staff were really friendly and caring, and the atmosphere, the music, the decor was second to none. Would 100% recommend.

How do you make the smashed frog cocktail? What are the quantities of each ingredient?

Most of their drinks had 1 1/2 oz of Absintherie so go from there.
