About
PAVEL'S PERSONAL PRAGUE TOUR. Daily at 11 a.m. Duration: 4 hours - all historic quarters - finger food & 0.5 L beer will be served - visit of the unique 12 century underground palace With many years of tour guiding experience under my belt and with a deep passion for Prague *I specialize in giving walking tours of the historical centre of Prague from a local and personal perspective. My tour last about 4 hours and we take in all the historical quarters of Prague. The wonderful OLD TOWN, the mysterious JEWISH QUARTER, the charming LESSER TOWN and the magnificent HRADCANY TOWN & PRAGUE CASTLE. On our way we also cross the gothic CHARLES BRIDGE. My groups are small, an average of just 6 people which allows really good personal communication. Our tour finishes in the oldest palace in Prague with a fantastic 12th century underground ! In the end you will be served finger food & 0.5L beer. I may even play live guitar songs for you. With warm greetings from Pavel

We stumbled across Keith by the clock in the old town sq whilst we were wandering around and heard him talking about a free tour. We waited a few minutes and went on his FREE walking tour of the old town it was good, he was energetic and interesting to listen to. We enjoyed it so much we did his FREE castle tour the following day, preferred the town tour though. It really is FREE he just asks for tips at the end, there is no pressure and didnt make anyone feel uncomfortable no matter how much or little you give. We compared it to the itinerary of a paid tour, they were very similar so we paid about half. Well worth it.

We have traveled extensively and have previously visited two other concentration camp memorials, but spending the day at Terezin with Pavel is an experience that we will never forget. His knowledge and passion are just indescribable. We were a group of 8, and all of us felt this way.

On the practical side, advance booking by email was courteous and reliable. Pavel picked us up in Prague when and where he said he would, and then delivered an experience FAR above what any of us expected. I absolutely cannot come up with the words to describe how pleased we were.

Pavel Batl is engaging and knowledgeable. His passion for preserving this important history is so compelling. This day trip is worth the time and money. He picked the 6 of us up at our apartment, and begin explaining the tour in Prague, adding historical significance from the beginning. We add lunch at nearby outdoor vendors and enjoyed it as well. Be prepared to be moved and thoughtful. We arranged the tour on the website, they were very responsive and helpful. Definately go!

We remember our visit to Prague and our day with Pavel Batel as if it were yesterday. Nothing we have experienced in any of our travels has been more emotionally moving than the day Pavel drove us to Terezin, guided us, and taught us in a way that was both informative and deeply touching. We were especially impressed that he is self-taught and has devoted his passion and his energy to learning about, honoring and maintaining the truth, and the personal stories, of what happened at Terezin. An inspiring, admirable man and an important and meaningful experience that we highly recommend.

My husband and I just did the Terezin concentration camp private tour with Pavel. His knowledge and passion on the subject made for a wonderful experience. He had detailed accounts and stories that made you feel like you were brought back in time and were watching the events unfold in front of your eyes. If you want the real deal, book with him! He's worth every penny and was the highlight of our trip!!

Pavel runs small walking tours (he told us max 6 people). Walking tours are the way to go - just visiting a city/town/area, you just bumble around, seeing interesting places, stumbling across stuff, but you never REALLY find about the place, its history, its tragedies, its struggles, and the issues that define it. To get the best out of your visit, you need to walk around the place with an expert, a local, with sufficient knowledge to answer your questions. We have been on about ten walking tours in the last two or three years in 7 or 8 cities/towns, as we have caught onto this mode of tourism. They vary from "free" walking tours run by student types (some of these are very entertaining as the tour guides generally work very hard for their tips, but since they are young, have little depth of knowledge) to tours run by tourist centres (often very dry as the tour guides tick off the list of to dos as fast as possible). Havel's Tour is possibly the best walking tour we have been on in this time. Its 4 hours long, its extensive, and while taking you around the town to show you its principal features, he takes the trouble to go into great detail on Prague's history, struggles and tragedies, not just the places. This includes WWII, Soviet domination, anti Communist struggles, and move to democracy. Also the split of Czechoslovakia into Czech Republic and Slovakia. He also offers different perspectives on the various religions (including quite a bit on a local brand of Protestantism called Hussism.) Fascinating stuff. Havel's depth of knowledge is great, and there was no question we asked that he could not answer, or did not have an opinion on.

At the end, he takes you to a quiet pub where we tried various Czech snacks and where Pavel even sang some Czech songs while playing his guitar.

Pavel had an amazing amount of knowledge about Prague--both current and historical. We learned more in 3.5 hours than a week of reading guide books. Prague can be very crowded with tourists and Pavel knew how to get into every site and when to go to avoid the crowds. Made it such a pleasant day! Pavel met us at our hotel and his English is excellent.

Pinsy (Not sure of the spelling) did a great job informing us of the highlights of Old Town Prague. He entertained us with his humour. Also did the Castle tour with Rob (who did a great job as well), both tours I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Prague.

If you want a free tour of the city Keith is your man. Just look for an American in a green shirt under a green umbrella near the astronomical clock in the old town square round 11am. It's absolutely free but he does ask for a tip at the end of the tour, but it's totally worth it.
He is a really funny easy going guy, very knowledgeable. He does a old town tour 11am and a castle tour for €10 at 2pm, every day. I did both tours on two different days, it was a great experience. I would definitely rate Keith 10/10 for his tours.

Pavel is a native Czech, which helped to make this tour so special. It was more meaningful to have someone explain the history of a town he was always a part of. He kept the 2.5 hour tour interesting the whole time and was one of the only tour guides who took you up to the Prague Castle. It was definitely well worth the time and money (free tour but you tip what you think it's worth at the end)!
