AVE Travel customized our bike trip exactly to our skill level and our schedule. AVE also handled the heavy lift of getting our bikes to us in Dresden and transport our luggage in between our selected hotels. All we had to do grab our route sheets and off we went to explore small towns, meet new people, taste foods from trailside eateries, and enjoy the scenery. Yes, we did get a little lost one or twice but Czech bike network signage keep us on track. We did upgrade our bikes to the higher quality hybrids - well worth the extra money in terms of comfort and handling.

Ride from Prague to Vienna on Greenways was a great experience. The food was great, the beer was cheap, the hotels were cool and the scenery was outstanding.

Milada and Filip were patient and knowledgable and provided great insight the entire trip. And Henry was awesome in setting up breaks, providing transportation as well as some outstanding local pickles.

AVE team was accommodating as we brought our own tandem.

One note. Elevation is in meters so what looks like 100ft on a map is really 300 feet! So there are some challenging climbs, which in turn leads to most awesome views and delicious declines!!!

Great guided trip!

We did the Karlstejn Castle on-day tour with Ave Bicycle from Prague. Our guide Kate was a delight: informed, enthousiastic, professional. While you do have to hike quite a ways from the town up to the castle, the ride to the town is beautiful and mostly on bike paths along the rivers. It took us 3 hours for the ride and that included a stop for pastries along the way. This company also offers multi-day trips in Czech Republic as well as bicycle rentals with suggested routes for self-guided trips. We were impressed.

Ave bicycle tours from Prague to Karlstejn Castle was a fun exhilarating and beautiful way to see and experience the Czech countryside. It was an easy 3 hour bike ride with 3 perfectly timed breaks. I was a little nervous venturing on a 20 mile bike ride because cycling is not a form of exercise I do at home. However, Ave bicycle tours was true to their claim that the bicycle ride is appropriate for all riding levels. The ride was pleasant with only 1 challenging hill for novice cyclist. Our guide Phillip was courteous and helpful along the way. Karlstejn castle and the entire ride was a fun memorable experience. It is a fabulous addition for your Prague vacation.

People do some crazy things on holiday. I hadn't been on a bike for 10 years but couldn't resist the allure of seeing Middle Bohemia on a cycle tour.

I'm glad I gave in - the day out with Ave Bicycle Tours was brilliant and was hands down the best thing that I did in (around) Prague.

They offer a hotel pick-up service, though if you are able to get to their office at Pod Barvirkou you get a discount. The hotel pick up was punctual, the driver friendly.

When you arrive at the office, you go downstairs for a safety briefing and a crash course on the rules of the road. You then go a few doors down to the lot where the bikes are kept. They have a variety of bicycles available, with both male and female seats. They're good, solid, sturdy bikes. You're provided with a helmet and a handle bar or pannier bag if you need one. Everyone gets a bottle of water. You have a few minutes to pedal around and make adjustments before setting off for real.

I was on the tour to Karlstejn Castle, about 20 miles away from Prague. The first 15 minutes or so, you're on public roads on the way out of the city. This was pretty scary at first, but our guide Lukasz led on and kept an eye on us.

After getting out of the city, the vast majority of the cycle is on dedicated cycle paths, some in better condition than others but all offering a good view of the surrounding countryside. It does get pretty bumpy in some places, you also get to go over a number of bridges.

The guides know of several points to stop off for a midway beer/light snack and a rest - if you're able, try and hold out to stop off in Dobrichovice. Lukasz led us to Dobrichovice Castle, now privately owned and partially converted into a bar and restaurant. It is worth seeing, especially the frescoes upstairs.

I did have a number of moments on the trip where I got a bit panicked, mostly because it had been so long since I cycled. Lukasz and his assistant were brilliant at all times - reassuring, looking out for me. They were lovely, even though I surely was not the easiest customer to deal with.

When you get to Karlstejn, you cycle up to a viewing point first, where you can see the castle in all its glory. You then bike back to near the train station to drop off the cycles. The guides oriented us so that we would be able to get the train back when we finished exploring the town (the train ticket back to Prague is included in the tour) and then bid us farewell.

The tour to Karlstejn was fantastic - the countryside is beautiful and worth seeing, especially the small cottages dotted along the river and the bright red poppies that dotted the fields and river banks.

I highly recommend this tour and this company, even if you haven't been on a bike in ages and even if you aren't super fit. It's a unique way to see the area and you'll be well looked after by Ave Bicycle Tours.

We took the tour to Karlstejn Castle and I have to say it was fantastic. The 20 miles journey from Prague to Karstejn was spectacular, not difficult at all and we were enjoying the great scenery for many times during the tour. We were biking around the Vltava river all the time except for the first 15 minutes when we were getting out of the city. But after leaving the rush city centre we had the blast.

Our guide Eda was very pleasant and he made many stops during the tour so that everyone was able to follow the group with no pressure. I would highly recommend this tour not only for the trail that is spectacular by itself but also for the great service that we got during the tour, the trail return tickets that were included in price and above all our enthusiastic guide Eda that took great care of us.

We just completed a most excellent 6 day bike trip. It was flawless, from planning to execution. The manager, Vlastimil, communicated with us in perfect english and options were clear. We chose the higher level of hotels and were pleased with the accommodations. The bike trip was fabulous, through beautiful towns and country side. It was very easy to navigate with the provided GPS, maps, and descriptions. Most days there were options to make the ride shorter or longer, flatter or hillier. The bikes were new, in great condition, and well fitted to our size. We are a relatively fit couple in our 60's and managed the ride well. Some days were harder than others, but a beer at the end of the day was very restorative! We should note that we have no knowledge of Czech, but had no difficulty communicating. Sunny weather throughout was a bonus in late April.

My husband and I booked this tour thinking that it was going to be a small group. It ended up being just the two of us and our guide Pavel Dedera. The tour company offered Hotel pick up, but the drop off location, which is not in the main City Center was kind of iffy.
It took a while for us to feel comfortable about the surrounding. But it didn't take long for Pavel to make us feel as ease. (Again, we thought it was going to be a group).
The ride was pleasant, the country side views met our expectations, Pavel was very informative and friendly, he answers all our questions. He wanted to make sure we were comfortable and enjoy the ride. Will recommend this tour to anyone that wants to get out of the busy City of Prague and see the Country side.

We had a wonderful trip with our 10 year old daughter. We did the 20 mile ride to Karlstejn Castle. We were very lucky to be the only riders and ended up with a private tour from a knowledgeable and patient guide. We were tired at the end but it was a memorable and special experience. A short portion of the trip is on a road but with very little traffic and we felt safe. The ride included a field of orange poppies, crossing bridges, seeing many animals, picking cherries on the route, stopping to look at nut trees and a midpoint stop for ice cream and coffee. I would highly recommend this for anyone who is up for 20 easy miles. We traveled pretty slow paced and I do wonder if there had been others in the group if we would have held them up. If travel speed is an issue get it straight when you book. We could not have been luckier.

This was a beautifully organized, well guided and well supported trip. The guide was excellent though her English might have been a bit better. The route was lovely and for the most part was on bicycle paths or on less travelled roads. The accommodations and food were very good. I would highly recommend this trip!
