This is a one day trip.
As usual I have attached pictures so that you can improve your own opinion rather than relying on mine ...
You are picked up at your hotel between 8:30 and 9:00 and you leave Prague at 9:00 for Karlovy Vary (once Carlsbad).
We were asked for a 58Euro fee which was a fair price for us.
One disappointment ... you do not take a full size bus but a mini bus which is less comfortable.
On the other hand however, you are in a 18 person group only which make all the climbing in/getting down rather fast and hassle-less...so as a matter of fact we preferred it.
Karlovy is around 120km far from Prague, a 2 hour trip (+/- 10 minutes if you take a break).
The road is boring, but I am glad we took it ... because now I know it is boring :) and I won't have the feeling of having missed something of the countryside.
By the way we checked the alternative which would have been taking the train: meaning a much longer trip, 3:15 hour of .. a still boring landscape, and paying a rather expensive ticket.
To summarize in 2 words the landscape during all the trip: yellow/green.
yellow (Colza/Rapeseed fields) and the remaining fields are green .. these are the only colors....
No interesting villages, castles, ruins, monuments ... flat and ...well you got it ... b....
Luckily our guide was CAROLINA...
She managed to make us forget the trip: it was a lively and really interesting 2 hour lecture about her country, its history, tradition, geography, more history with so much anger against the communist totalitarian regime, and of course the Czech people she is so proud to be part of.
Thanks to her the 2 hour trip passed actually quite fast.
Once in Karlovy the scenario changes and you are overwhelmed with is so characteristic Central Europe Architecture.
The trip includes a lunch, don't expect Fench cuisine. but it is OK.
We thought that the visit to the Moser glass factory could be skipped but perhaps you'll find it interesting
Finally Carolina also agreed to give us 2 hours for ourselves as we asked for plenty of free time to wander as we wished, which was not obvious as she had many more stories to tell us.
Bottom line, an enjoyable tour, with an excellent guide
Almost forgot, you get also a nice gift: a voucher for an hour cruise on the Vlatva river, a 12euro value ...
