- Lucian MConstanta, Romania2,518 contributionsAn inspired choiceThe visit to the DOX Centre for Contemporary Art proved to be an inspired choice. It's a little far from the city centre and the hotel where we were staying, but we got there easily using the tram. The museum is organized in a former factory. It is a new museum, opened in 2008, thanks to an independent initiative. Visitors can admire contemporary fine art created by mainly Czech artists. Works by international artists can also be seen, depending on the museum's activity program. I particularly liked the airship on the roof (Gulliver Airship), a totally unusual space that can accommodate various artistic activities.Visited October 2019Written September 27, 2020
- Sophie MRotterdam, The Netherlands6 contributionsNot as good as expected, collection limitedMe and my sister saw this was recommended a lot in the district of Holosevice. Since we stayed in a hostel in this area, we were curious and enthusiastic to visit it. We were a little disappointed about the extensiveness of the collection. The art that was there, was surely nice, but we were hoping to spend more than half an hour on seeing everthing.Visited October 2022Written November 5, 2022
- Jan McBLondon, United Kingdom10 contributionsSome interesting artSome very strong and thought provoking Imagery. Dissipated that staff were unable to tell us much about the art work . Was a bit of a longer walk from the old town then we expected but was beautiful spring day so we enjoyed stretching our legs.Visited March 2022Traveled as a coupleWritten March 12, 2022
- CarmenLandshut, Germany3 contributionsDisappointing experienceVisited with my partner and was incredibly disappointed. We paid 264Kč (10€) for two very small exhibitions that took us about 10-15 minutes to completely go through. Confused we asked if that was all and sadly it was. Most of the building was not open for visits, the Gulliver couldn't be visited or looked at closely either. Most of what we were able to exhibit was blank walls. Definitely don't visit during times where no temporary exhibitions are on. One star because the staff was very friendly.Visited November 2021Traveled as a coupleWritten November 4, 2021
- Spockis54Guelph, Canada127 contributionsWhy is it half closed??It's May. Prague is bursting with visitors. We love to see modern art in every city we visit. And yet DOX is mostly closed? Why would they reduce their exhibitions by more than half just when the patrons are ready to visit? We walked a very long way from the old town and there was practically nothing on view. Very disappointing and not recommended.Visited May 2018Traveled as a coupleWritten May 10, 2018
- Eduardo MFederal District89 contributionsVery good space waiting for moreThis DOC Center of Contemporary Art is located out of the turistic city of Prague but no problem with the tram 14 to the end. It`s a very modern space with around area in renovation, or manicure-gentrification. I went to the DOX looking for a controversial - other... - of David Cerney, called ENTROPIA. The guys said that one year ago that sculpture was ... out, nobody knows to where. But there is another, on the roof. A big skull. Anyway, inside, there is exposition, bibliotek, cafe, a shop of fine design. Finally, it`s a goot place to go to know a NEW PRAGUE.Visited May 2013Traveled with friendsWritten May 30, 2013
- Jana AVienna, Austria112 contributionsModern architecture, interesting exhibitionsThis museum is privately owned and was something like a miracle when it was finished a few years ago. The exhibitions are always very interesting, sometimes they have political character and have strong opinions about our society. It is a must visit for people interested in art and in the circumstances we are living in.Visited May 2013Traveled as a coupleWritten September 19, 2013
- judith tAuckland Central, New Zealand7 contributionsTotally worthwhile visit for contemporary artA bit out of the city centre but the DOX Centre for Contemporary Art is well worth a visit. Of course it all depends on the changing exhibition program, however the four shows on when we visited were all worthwhile, and two of them were exceptional - 'Disabled by Normality' and Kamila Zenata 'The Women's Yard' are both excellent exhibitions. DOX also has an excellent design shop with high quality objects and books. The only drawback is the cafe..... don't arrive hungry, it only serves drinks. The hospitable server rustled up toasted cheese sandwiches for us, but don't plan on having lunch here. TIP. Take the free minibus which goes from Old Town to DOX daily at 1pm. This is a wonderful space housing an eclectic and interesting collection, I was not blow away by the exhibitions on display when I was there but it was well worth the visit.
Getting to it can be a bit of a chore though, once you get to the metro on leaving the station turn left, and continue straight, you will see signs on the way keep an eye out for them, DOX is about 600m off a side road on the opposite side of the main avenue.

One of the main current exhibitions had just closed prior to visit, but we weren't advised on this when we bought (full price tickets)
Think we were just unlucky, rest of displays were average/disappointing, certainly not international calibre - although the two room comment on social media/privacy was good, if a bit passe .
Very quiet re visitors.
The one star is for the shop. Great shop, shame about the gallery.
