We went on the free walking tour with Sandemans (red umbrella in square). Our tour guide Lyle was originally American but has lived in and LOVED Prague for many years. I can't recommend this tour enough and try and book Lyle, do it on your first day as Lyle not only gives you a history of Prague but some great tips for your stay in Prague, including exchanging money, local phrases, places to eat, shop, visit. I could go on!!. His historical knowledge is simply vast, how he remembers it all makes my head spin! And he tells the local history with such a great enthusiasm, we were totally drawn in by it and the tour flew in. I won't spoil the tour for you but I will say he gave us some fantastic tips of where to visit that I didn't even know about. This tour really shaped our visit to Prague and would really recommend, the tour is free but the tour guides live off tips so considering how helpful and knowledgeable these guides are dig deep folks, it's a bargain!

This was my 4th sandemans tour and again I can’t highly recommend them enough
I was a solo traveller and the group met at 10am outside the Cartier shop behind the astronomical clock
Our guide Katcha was a local lady and was so fun and knowledgable and the almost 3 hours flew we saw so much of the city it was amazing
I think these tours are so much better than a hop on hop off bus if you’re able to walk . There’s no comparison.
I’ll definitely be back for my next tour when I go to my next city break

We did the free Prague walking tour with Nicolò. This was a 3hour walking tour which allowed time to learn so much about the city and the extensive history of Czechia. I’ve been to Prague many times before but now feel like I have finally learnt interesting information about the city.

Nicolò was a great guide, very confident in his knowledge and particularly brilliant on Czech history. He was also fun to listen to, adding puns and jokes as we walked around the city. Made it all very enjoyable, and there wasn’t a question he wasn’t able to answer.

Would recommend this tour for a great insight to the city, and will definitely be doing more free tours in other cities around the world!

We did the free walking tour which lasted about three hours. It was amazing! So many interesting facts and places to see. Brandon was such a great tour guide and maintained the perfect balance of being informative and entertaining. I am so glad I went on this tour, I learned a lot and got to see so many interesting places in this amazing city! We also went to a pub after about 1.5 hours which was perfect timing since we could all use a break at that point. We spent about 30 minutes there which was just the right amount of time before going back out and finishing the tour. It's worth mentioning that the tours are free, however, the tour guides only get paid through your tip, so you should expect to still pay something. In our case I was more than happy to do so since Brandon did an excellent job :) thanks for an amazing day and an amazing experience!

I’ve always had good experiences with this company until doing the free walking tour in Prague. Our male guide was interesting enough and gave good information however I was very disappointed with how he handled my friends and I when we decided to leave the tour half way through. We decided not to continue after the coffee stop as we were struggling with the cold. I gave our guide a small collective tip from all of us, I felt it was good since we were not doing the whole tour and he had a large group. After he moved everyone on the tour outside he came back into the cafe and started to hassel my friends and I about the tip saying it wasn’t enough money and he had to pay the company so we had to give him more money. I was disgusted by this behavior as he stayed and guilted my friends into giving up their money that wasn’t even in local currency. This was unprofessional and made me want to take my tip back, never have I been pressured into handing over money on a free walking tour, the guide left us feeling quite upset to say the least

Hello Gingerninja912, Thank you for taking the time to review us on TripAdvisor and for joining the tour of Prague. We really appreciate your feedback as it helps us to continue making improvements and ensure that tours and experiences promoted by SANDEMANs NEW Europe meet the high standards that travellers expect. We are concerned to learn about your experience. The Free Tour is described as such because there is no maximum or minimum amount any guest is expected to tip; the idea is that every guest should feel comfortable to tip in such a way that reflects their individual budget and what they thought the tour was worth. Any guest who does not wish to tip may decline to do so, and the guides we work with are aware that pressuring guests to tip goes against the Free Tour philosophy. We are truly sorry if your experience did not reflect that. This is not only detrimental to your enjoyment of the tour, but undoes much of the hard work of ourselves and the other guides we work with to promote the concept of a free tour. Thank you once again for reviewing us on TripAdvisor and for joining the tour. We hope to see you again soon on other tours, so we may show you that this experience does not reflect the usual standard of service. Kind regards, The SANDEMANs Team

Paris was a knowledgeable and humorous guide. She was very honest and gave a detailed walking tour of the old town and the Jewish quarter. There are many things I wouldn’t have noticed if it wasn’t for her pointing them out among buildings and areas in Prague. She also gave the group restaurant recommendations and extra info about Prague history. She is passionate about what she does and this shows in the way she presents her tour. My friend and I had a few questions when the tour ended and Paris took her time to further explain historic details to us. At the end of the hour, it felt like we had made a new friend 😊 thank you Paris for a wonderful experience! How I wish ALL your guides were like you!!!

We've done the free walking tour with Pacifico. It was great. He knows tones of history and the speech was really catchy and dynamic. He told us both historical facts and small curiosities. Totally recomended.

Usually I forget the info from free walking tours after a day or two, but a couple weeks later I still remember a lot of the history and stories of Prague and the Czech Republic Sarah told. She’s such a great storyteller - entertaining, informative, fun. Plus great recommendations for the test of our time in Prague. I’ve done over 10 Sandemanns and other free walking tours around Europe, and this was by far the best! Thanks Sarah!!!

This was probably the first walking tour that we did not enjoy and just got bored.

It was boring and slow - our guide was Pavel and I'm not criticizing him, but the tour was just too slow and too boring.

He spoke too much history about each place or structure or building and there were lots and lots of irrelevant and lengthy details. We are tourists, we are not here to do a PhD in Czech history!!!

Just give us some basic details about a place and let's move on, that's enough. No one can remember so much detail anyway.

Also the coffee break at the Bake House was too long, almost 30 minutes, and the Bake house is simply a rip off cafe, very expensive, and the staff are not really friendly.

A terrible walking tour, very disappointing.

I highly recommend to free walking tour, because the whole system is great, because you pay what you think the tour was worth. Very informative. If you are lucky enough to get Kenny Hall as your tour guide, enjoy, he is a delightful character that teaches you all about Prague in an intriguing way.
