Our tour guide, Karel, met us all in the old town square at the appointed time. You have to register online beforehand. There is no charge for the tour but it’s customary to leave a nice tip if you were happy with your tour guide (which we were).
Not only was Karel knowledgeable in a historic sense about all things Prague, but he gave us great advice about where to find the best Svičkova in the city (Next Door By Imperial).
The tour started at 10am but just before that he advised us to walk two minutes to the Old Clock and watch it come to life on the hour. It’s lucky we did because every other time we passed by we were too early or too late.
The tour takes about three hours with a twenty minute break at the market. We’ve taken these walking tours in many European cities and find them a perfect start for a first visit.
Recommended.

We chose this walking tour to get a bit more understanding of the city, but we were incredibly impressed with the detailed information we received. The tour is good amount of time to explore a good portion of the city - it is certainly worth a few hours to take this tour. Our tour guide was Andrea and she was such an amazing guide. She is both Czech and Slovakian so she had a really unique story to tell for so much of the area, and has a really personal connection to the city. She was such a wealth of information and entertaining and she was also just a really nice person - you could tell she cared about the group. The tour was really good for the layout/structure but what made it great for us was having Andrea as our guide. You don't find out who your guide is until you arrive, but hopefully you'll end up on a tour with her!

Our Prague city tour with Katarina was extremely informative and gave us a great overview of the history and sites of this beautiful city. Katarina did a wonderful job of leading us to all of the key points and avoiding the large crowds. It was easy to focus on her presentation and not be distracted by all of the surrounding tourist activity.

I hope they never have Yoshio as their guide. He never understood that my family was 3 people and not 7 (we were talking to other Argentinians who were also going to do the tour), and all he wanted was to charge us 15 euros per person to “allow” us to join the tour.
It's a shame that Sandeman has such rude and unprofessional guides. We came from good experiences in other cities but it led us to cancel the next day's tour with them.

This was probably the first walking tour that we did not enjoy and just got bored.

It was boring and slow - our guide was Pavel and I'm not criticizing him, but the tour was just too slow and too boring.

He spoke too much history about each place or structure or building and there were lots and lots of irrelevant and lengthy details. We are tourists, we are not here to do a PhD in Czech history!!!

Just give us some basic details about a place and let's move on, that's enough. No one can remember so much detail anyway.

Also the coffee break at the Bake House was too long, almost 30 minutes, and the Bake house is simply a rip off cafe, very expensive, and the staff are not really friendly.

A terrible walking tour, very disappointing.

We always do a Sandemans walking tour every city we visit (if one is available). This one did not disappoint. Our guide, Pavel, was very informative, interesting and entertaining. He was born and bred in the area and it was interesting to hear his experience of growing up there in the communist era. I always think with the Sandeman's tours, because the guide won't get money if they're not good, they have to be good.

The 2 tours we took were both just wonderful. Katerina showed us the Prague Castle, places very special that other guides were not showing to their groups, answered all our questions and gave us a thorough history full of entertaining stories.
Pavel took us through the old town with talks full of historic details. Not only is he very knowledgeable, he shared his perspective as a native which we appreciated a lot. His version of the astronomical clock was hilarious, too. He made sure we all felt welcome, well-informed, and secure under his care

We enjoyed the WW2 and Communism Tour was informative and a great way to explore ew areas of this delightful city. We very much appreciated the level of detail provided, but we never felt that we were standing too long as all information was shared. The guide was very honest about the events, which we found refreshing

I was lucky enough to have Andrea as a guide today on the free walking tour of Prague! She was an absolute joy, so funny and engaging, and is a Czech Slovakian local so has a close connection to the history of the city and country. This was a great way to orient myself in Prague for my first full day in the city. Would highly recommend! Thanks for a wonderful Andrea :)

We went on the free walking tour with Sandemans (red umbrella in square). Our tour guide Lyle was originally American but has lived in and LOVED Prague for many years. I can't recommend this tour enough and try and book Lyle, do it on your first day as Lyle not only gives you a history of Prague but some great tips for your stay in Prague, including exchanging money, local phrases, places to eat, shop, visit. I could go on!!. His historical knowledge is simply vast, how he remembers it all makes my head spin! And he tells the local history with such a great enthusiasm, we were totally drawn in by it and the tour flew in. I won't spoil the tour for you but I will say he gave us some fantastic tips of where to visit that I didn't even know about. This tour really shaped our visit to Prague and would really recommend, the tour is free but the tour guides live off tips so considering how helpful and knowledgeable these guides are dig deep folks, it's a bargain!
