While visiting the Czech Republic recently, I took the Bohemian Paradise Nature Walk tour offered by Green Zebra -- and it was an absolute highlight of my time in the country!
The tour is very well-organized (and convenient with hotel pickup in the AM) and covers some beautiful scenery in the Český ráj national park area. Tomas is an excellent guide – he was very friendly, super knowledgeable about the area the tour covers, and very cognizant of making sure everyone has a great time.
The tour is a good mix of hiking/walking – for those who are less experienced hikers, nothing too difficult, though also enough elevation change that you will get a bit of a workout over the course of the day. The tour also includes lunch at a fantastic local restaurant, where I thoroughly enjoyed the meal.
I really have nothing but positive things to say about the tour – overall a great experience, and a definite recommendation for any itinerary in the Czech Republic. The last thing I will say is while researching hiking day trips from Prague I noticed there a lot of other tour operators that go near the Czech/German border, that operate with much larger group sizes. This was definitely NOT that kind of experience (there were 3 guests total on my tour), and the areas we explored were not overrun by other tour groups, which made for a much more intimate, personal tour.
Thanks again to Tomas for sharing Český ráj with us – and for anyone reading, do not hesitate to book this tour with Green Zebra!

I stumbled onto this tour by accident (while browsing for what to do outside of Prague), and was immediately drawn by the pictures.
Usually, you never know if the reality will be as good as the picture, but here it was. The tour was amazing.
Me and my husband were the only people that day, so it was like a personal tour. We saw a beautiful castle. Went to the brewery; had a delicious meal and hiked up the mountain while enjoying the rock formations.
Our guide, Tomas, was great. And I definitely recommend this tour!

We were really keen to get out and see some of the Czech Republic outside of Prague and Bohemian Paradise does not disappoint. As others have said below, Tomas is an exemplary guide and if the views from the beautiful countryside weren't enough alone, Tomas's willingness to go the extra mile makes this an extremely worthwhile day trip. We were the only couple booked on the tour that day and really enjoyed learning about the different places, history of the country etc. from Tomas. He even took us a little further of the beaten track to try out some 'geocaching' which was super cool! The second rocky area (secret location) was probably the highlight of the trip because it is just so far removed from the hustle and bustle of tourists, we really felt we got to experience something unique. Lunch was also fantastic in a really beautiful local restaurant. Thank you again for a great day.

Marek was our tour guide for the day. He took us first to Kost castle. He was extremely knowledgable and showed us an old house carved into the rocks. The visit to the Prochov rocks was amazing. The formations were incredible and the views amazing. Thr Prochov rocks are not to be missed. During our lunch in a village restaurant, Marek talked about the history of the Czech Republic, the recovery from communism and what it is like to live in the Czech Republic. It gave us a richer feel for the country and the people. A day out requires good beer and the tour through the brewery was not only informative but provided great beer. In all a great tour and a great tour guide.

This is one of the most excellent day trips we have ever had, no question Bohemian Paradise is beautiful, but Tomas from Green Zebra really made the difference. The trip felt very personalized, not like a standard commercial packaged one you would get anywhere. Tomas is a wonderful gentleman and an excellent tour guide, very knowledgeable, polite, nice and fun. He has a wealth of interesting things to share with us the whole trip, history, geography, business... Our sons (10,11 yr old) were well engaged throughout.

The van is new, clean and comfortable, Tomas keeps everything in great condition, very pleasant. Lunch was superb, we love the nice little restaurant Tomas brought us to, food is awesome and the ambiance is nice.

The hike itself was nice and enjoyable, it was a hot day but 60,70% of the trail was shaded and cool. We have an additional hike to a mountain top (sorry forgot the name) after lunch where we got the stunning view all the way to the north of Prague. The beer brewery visit at the end of the day was really fun and we got to taste the freshly brewed chilly beer, this is one really perfect trip for us. HIGHLY recommended!

Tomas thanks agian, we really enjoyed your company and you have given us an unforgettable trip as promised!

The all-day Green Zebra Tour into the “Bohemian Paradise” region near Prague is a special treat and should not be missed! Tour group size is kept small (seven tourists in our van), which greatly contributes to the memorable experience (easy listening and learning, conversation sharing, etc.).

The van ride is a short one-hour drive from Prague, which provides a glimpse into the beautiful surrounding countryside beyond just the usual city sites.

What’s particularly distinctive about this tour are the four wonderful components of tour content. First and foremost are the absolutely stunning natural sandstone rock formations of the Prachov Rocks area, a protected zone and designated UNESCO geo-park. Following the tour guide onto a couple of short, easy trails into the heart of the formations affords amazing up-close views as well as sweeping vistas of nature’s finest.

Then it’s time for lunch at a local eatery that is off the beaten path but not off the mark in terms of tasty Czech cuisine.

After lunch is a relaxing guided tour of the nearby Kost Castle, a very well preserved medieval structure built almost 700 years ago.

Topping off the day’s activities is an informative, behind the scenes tour of one of the oldest (and best!) local Czech breweries that has been producing beer continuously for about 500 years, through obvious tough times, including wars, financial challenges, and technology advances … all the while preserving an unmatched product character that even the most die-hard wine lover can’t resist during the end-of-tour tasting.

So that’s it … an all-inclusive, very reasonably priced, uniquely superb, outside-the-city tour that should definitely not be missed when visiting Prague!

Couldn't recommend this highly enough - Tomas was friendly and informative and took us to loads of really nice areas - Bohemian Paradise is beautiful! The restaurant food was delicious and the brewery tour (and samples) was great. A perfect way to spend a bit of chilled time outside of Prague.

Green Zebra was the best thing for me as the tour took me out amongst nature as well as viewing a castle . I was even surprised to find myself enjoying the brewery tour, expecting it to be boring. The drive was comfortable and sights along the way were pointed out.
Tomas, our guide and driver, is really personable and likeable and during our trip he met our needs (stopping for morning coffee and cake). Lunch was absolutely delicious. Tomas is a sincere and honest man and I highly recommend Green Zebra for an enjoyable trip out of Prague.

Dear Symphy, I am glad you enjoyed the tour. I enjoyed whole day with you and two British gentlemen too! We do our best to make a brewery tour interesting and informative, even for non-drinkers. And it seems it works, some clients drank their first beer in their live with us :-) Tomas

Our visit to Prague is forever going to be a wonderful memory, thanks to this trip. Tomas from Green Zebra is an excellent and a very pleasant guide who made our trip to Bohemian Islands really great fun. He has really lot of knowledge about the area being a local from there. While this place is a beauty in itself, having a good guide who shared loads of different stories and info about the area made it really remarkable for us. We also got lot of tips about local food and drinks. The local restaurant in nearby village that we visited for lunch with Tomas was beautiful aesthetically and had delicious food. I would really recommend going to Bohemian Islands which is just an hour away from Prague with Tomas to guide you.

This is a trip not to be missed. The visit to the castle, the walks among the rock formations and the tour around the brewery were outstandingly enjoyable and informative. The lunch, at a traditional Czech restaurant was delicious. All of this was down to our guide, Marek, an unassuming, terrific chap who made sure this day was the absolute highlight of our holiday. Thank you Marek.
