The area
Neighborhood: Nove Mesto (New Town)
Nearly 700 hundred meters long, Wenceslas Square represents the most frequent and buzzing crossroads of the city. The National Museum in the upper part of the square watches over your spending spree in countless shops and retail stores lining the entire square, which ends at Na Příkopě, the most famous shopping street. When tired or broke, you can explore the city's underpasses, which can take you to the Old Town or to the courtyards of art nouveau houses with secret gems of greenery, white benches and rose bushes that provide unexpected peace in the midst of the city. Be sure to pay a visit to the traditional cafés, classic Czech pubs, cinemas and theaters. National Theater near the river has a lot to offer to foreigners. Go to the river bank and enjoy live music and drinks while watching a sunset behind Prague Castle.

Some say the building is an imitation of a Venetian Palace. I am no expert but I don't see much resemblance. Maybe because it sits on a busy corner in New Town. But it is a well preserved palace- early 20th century art deco style.

There is an internal passage with lots of marble, stores, theater and al fresco cafe on the second floor. It used to house the theater Laterna Magika - very popular with locals when I lived in Prague.

This is now an exhibition space and theatre with several statues in front of the building and a large bronze works depicting a sailing scene towards the top of the building. It used to be a small palace residence.

The building is quite attractive from the outside and has inside coffee shops, restaurants etc. I don't think it's worth making a specific trip to seek it out, only if you're in the area already.

I had a late breakfast at the cafe/restaurant that was situated on the second floor in this beautiful building. I was the first guest that day, so it was empty there and the service was very quick. There was a huge terrace with a view of Národní třída - I think it must be very popular place for lunch or dinner among guests.
The prices are a bit high here, but that is ok, you are in the centre of Prague.

Lunch menu ( soup - for 25 czk/1 eur ) + main dish ( 139 czk/5,5 eur ), but warning about drink prices in time of lunch menu service...
0,33 l bottle =small beer ( poor quality ) and for 45 czk/ 2 eur ?!?!?!?!?

That was a last visit of this place.
Sorry, but the quality od meal and prices together for not good lunch for 189 czk - that is really extremely bad...

Never, never...

Visiting the New Town ( Nove Mesto ) is something I love doing on any holiday I take to this most beautiful of city's ,despite it's name ,the New Town is one of the oldest districts of Prague and the architecture is a mix of ancient and quite modern ,one of my favourite buildings in this district is Adria Palace.
This building was constructed by 1918 and the architectural style is based on a Venetian palace ,the architectural style is known as Rondo Cubist which was really popular in the 1910's & 1920's ,it's such an imposing ,impressive looking building ,hard to ignore if you're near Jungmann Square ,highly photogenic and is well worth checking out if you're in the area .

My twin brother Stephen and I were pub hopping around this part of town ,we were in fact heading to U Pinkasu ,a great pub ,we were also admiring the great architecture of the New Town, one of the most striking buildings in this neck of the woods is Adria Palace ,based allegedly on a Venetian palace it's a great example of the Rondo Cubist style of architecture so popular in the 1920's ,a beautiful facade ,nice features such as the wonderful statues adorning the building, this building is home to apartments ,office buildings, cafe, restaurant ,it had a makeover between 1996-1997 ,if you're in the area it's a building most definitely well worth checking out ,it's a few minutes walk from Mustek Metro Station and just off Jungmannovo Namesti.

We had a very pleasant brunch in Cafe Adria on the 2nd floor of the Adria Palace - we sit outside on the terrace. The staff was friendly, food was tasty and fresh (we went for Eggs Benedict, Eggs with smoked salmon and bread variation & cappuccino, cheesecake and chocolate cake). For the central location prices are also good, no tourist trap. Fully recommending if you are searching for a nice relaxed brunch ;-)

The New Town is such a great district of Prague to visit ,so much grand architecture to be seen and as my twin brother Stephen and I always visit one of our favourite pubs in Prague namely U Pinkasu on Jungmannovo Náměstí you cannot fail to see this amazing building.
Adria Palace ( Pálac Adria ) is a huge structure based on a Venetian palace in the Rondo Cubist style of architecture popular in the 1920's ,this building looks awesome, it had a makeover between 1996 and 1997 which leaves us with this stunning building that houses apartments, office blocks,a theatre, gallery and restaurants.
Adria Palace is easy to locate, we jumped the metro to stop Můstek which drops you off practically facing this building.
Well worth checking out.
