We had wonderful day outdoors, out of the city in the spectacular countryside with Lukas. He is a very nice young man, polite, friendly, articulate and full of knowledge about the areas we visited, as well as ecology, and the history of Europe, specifically Eastern/Central Europe. The views were well worth the walk; absolutely breathtaking. I am 53, and my husband is 62, and we are in good health, but not in as good physical shape as we would like. This was the only Bohemian Switzerland NP tour that I found, that specifically stated that it was suitable for seniors and families with children. Lukas went at a pace we were comfortable with, and stopped whenever we wanted to take photos or rest.
If you are not used to using public transportation, don’t let using the metro to get to/from the meeting place discourage you. It is very easy, fast and convenient once you understand how it works. Tickets are sold by time, not location. We purchased a 72 hour ticket, but you can purchase less time. I would recommend purchasing your metro ticket prior to the morning of the excursion, at any newspaper/cigarette store. The first time you use it, be sure to validate it as you enter the metro area. There are no turnstiles, like in England, but there is a place to validate your ticket as you walk through. You can find the colored train routes online, and ask Lukas or the concierge at your hotel to instruct you where to get on/off, etc. Lukas was a tremendous help in this regard, once I explained my inexperience.
Thank you Lukas for a perfect day in the mountains!
