Neighborhood: Malá Strana (Little Quarter)
Malá Strana is one of the oldest and the most beautiful neighborhoods in the city. Nestled underneath Prague Castle it was once a part of the Kings route taken by future kings on their way to coronation - originating in the Old Town, crossing Charles Bridge and leading to Saint Vitus Cathedral. Cobblestone streets are lined with picturesque medieval houses, remarkable palaces, churches, kitsch shops and restaurants. Do not hesitate to turn a corner into any narrow street. You will suddenly find yourself in a calm and charming neighborhood full of hidden gardens, parks with peacocks, fruit trees and ponds. As the neighborhood is a home to Czech Parliament and many ministries, you can also run into well-dressed officials. If you are thirsty or hungry, it is the right place to be. Restaurants offer delicious traditional food and of course, the best Czech beers.

I visited after going to the Kampa Museum and Werichova Villa exhibit. The staff were lovely, the cake and mango punch tea were delicious. Definitely recommend a visit - but it’s popular so be prepared to wait for a table!

Guys,

We come from Italy, but we are not tourists. We live in Kampa just a few steps from IF Cafe. We have never eaten such disgusting sweets.

They seem to be plastic, and so they are: no smell, cardboard taste. The cookies were extremely hard.

The coffee was also crappy, but in the Czech Republic this is a normal issue.

Fa cagare, ragazzi.

AVOID.

Reviews for Werichova vila should really describe the building, where the famous Czech actor lived qnd the museum dedicated to his memory. The café should be reviewed elsewhere. The building is located in the beautiful Kampa island, not too far from the Charles Bridge. We bought our tickets on site, the staff was very kind and they pointed us in the right direction. Upstairs there are living quarters of the famous actor, a little sitting room with TV and the actor’s fishing gear. In the next room there is his writing desk and typewriter, a liquor cabinet where he stored his favorite Ballantine’s whiskey, beer for guests in the window. Another room shows off the actor’s works, there is a manually interactive quiz for his fans, matching quotes to his movies. It is not a big museum but very well done and an additional pleasant surprise was the Golem in the cellar, with a short video about it.

While the place has genius loci and the desserts are tasty and nice, the whole experience we had (repeatedly) was not pleasant because of the incompetent staff. When we entered, we were not greeted by the staff (two bored people busy chatting among themselves) and waited for 10 minutes just to be given the menu. Add another 10-15 minutes for staff to return to take the order. Then add another 20-30 minutes for your coffee to arrive. Pay and go (add additional half an hour for the process). Do not expect any greeting or even an attempt to ask about your experience when you leave. So this Friday, when we entered and waited first 10 minutes to be noticed (the place was half-empty), we decided to leave and walked to another place (we chose Smetana Q instead).
While I am a fan of Jan Werich and while we genuinely like Ms. Mladkova and have an aptitude for fine desserts without fussing about the price, we expect certain standards in places which treat customers. Unfortunately Werichova vila treats customers like they are a nuisance.

Werich's Museum at Kampa Park is great remembrance of popular czech actor Jan Werich. Is is situated in beautiful surroundings of historical Kampa Park and you can easily reach other points of interes in center of Prague.

We are frequent guests at the beautifully reconstructed villa at the edge of the Kampa park. The downstairs cafe is an elegant place well lit by large windows. My kids drink babyccino (whipped hot milk), love to play outside in the park or go down to the cellar to watch a short movie about the Golem legend. Meanwhile, I enjoy a glass of wine and coffee served in elegant glassware and settings. If you don´t mind the callories, try one of the desserts which the cafe owner is famous for. The only minus is the "museum charge" which I think they add to the bill (we do not get charged as repeated customers, I suppose).

Crowded on Saturday afternoon. Can be a little inconvenient sitting close to the waiting visitors. Service was very attentive. Nice coffee and excellent choice of cakes.

We went to the Werichova villa to see the Ticket to the New World exhibit by the Czech National Trust during October 's 2018 celebration of the 100th year anniversary of the formation of Czechoslovakia. The exhibit was well done and shows the bond between Czechs and Americans pre and during WWII. My Czech-American father, Dr. O. A. Holzer, story and collection of letters and photographs was featured on the 3rd floor. A better entrance I think would aide in showcasing what is regularly available at the villa. The villa is located in a beautiful park not so regularly visited by tourists, along the edge of the Vltava river where the beauty is magificient.

The Werichova vila, inside there is a sweetshop, is located in the Prague part called Mala Strana, specifically Kampa. You can buy a guided tour there as well as downstairs it is a nice place to have a cup of coffee or a delicious dessert. A coffee can be taken away too. There's a nice, attentive staff; as for prices, they are little bit higher, related to the place, close to the center and it's often stuffed by tourists and visitors... Obviously they love it - the said "genius loci" (a spirit of the place)!
