I came over from England, having never fished Czech waters before, so I didn't know what to expect, and really needed local expertise to make the most of it. Oleg made it well worth the trip. He took me to some absolutely lovely fly-fishing spots, we got lots of fish on (Brown Trout, Grayling and Chub), plus he provided insightful instruction and was extremely knowledgeable of the local conditions, quickly coming up with an alternate plan when our river was flooded out after 2 days of heavy rain. Added to that Oleg has great angling ethics, and very good English. Plus a very reasonable guiding fee, so all around it was a top experience with a real pro'. I've already booked my next trip. Thanks Oleg. Jake (from Wells, Somerset, England)

If you want to have a great day of fishing you can't go wrong with Oleg! He picked me up at my hotel at 6 am sharp and we made it into the river before 8 am for a prompt start. In the morning French nymphing was hugely successful: with Oleg’s extensive knowledge and experience we picked out the perfect places on the river to allow me to catch two beautiful grayling and some feisty brown trout. After a quick lunch we moved to a different segment of river to try out some emerger and dry flies. This was a challenge as a beginner fly fisher, but with Oleg’s teaching my skills improved and I caught some browns. Overall I can’t recommend Oleg enough, I'm already planning to go back one day and finally catch a grayling on a dry fly.

Fantastic guide, kids loved it, very knowledgeable, fun and lots of fish. He showed us how to fish and helped the kids reel in and how to handle fish. Caught lots of big and smaller fish and right choice of lake for us beginners. I’m sure if you’re an advanced fisherman he will know more advanced spots for you too!

pick up and drop off included, it really was perfect and value for money!

What a great day. Oleg is truly a fisherman's fisherman. If you are in Prague and want a genuinely special experience, then do not hesitate. My request was to spend a day casting flies to trout on a nice stream or river. My expectations were exceeded. We caught browns and rainbows, as well as chub and grayling. Oleg has an exhaustive knowledge of his sport and it was a real luxury to have someone choosing just the right tackle and adapting to the conditions of the changing day and the moods of the fish. If you are not already an angler, a day with Oleg will have you hooked; be it the fish, the scenery or the great company. Thanks Oleg.

My 17yr old son and I planned a trip to Prague and almost a year later, my son still talks about his fishing trip with Oleg. During the planning of the trip, several emails occurred and Oleg answered all my questions so thoroughly. It was the easiest part of the trip to plan. The convenient pick-up and drop-off was fantastic and the lunch was great. My son brought most of his equipment with him but it was great to know that Oleg had that part covered too. The drive to the fishing locations was gorgeous and all the knowledge of the area that Oleg shared was fascinating. The patience Oleg had teaching my son to fly fish (and all the questions during the drive) was incredible and made the trip most memorable. After the fishing trip was over, lures and social media info were swapped, and I had the happiest son ever. Truly a trip he will never forget. We can't wait to go back...or have Oleg come visit us! :)

My spouse and I spent a day fly fishing for trout and grayling on some of the clearest and most beautiful rivers we have ever fished. We also learned to use a Tenkara rods which we used to land a nice fat rainbow trout and a large grayling among other smaller fish including brown trout. We thoroughly enjoyed spending the day with Oleg and were very impressed by his fishing experience and knowledge. It was overall the best day of our 2 week trip to the Czech Republic and Poland. Highly recommend Oleg for anyone wanting to fly fish or spin cast as this guys knows where to find the fish!!!

I have visited Prague last April just a few days after trout season opening. When 3 days of sightseeing passed I decided to get out of the city for fishing if possible. One click in Google was enough to find a fishing guide, so the second day I was just sitting in the car going to the trout river situated among green foothills in the north Bohemia.

My guide Oleg entertained me with fishing stories all the way to the fishing spot. At first we got a license from the local river keeper and afterwards we started to cast our flies into the clear fast water in order to get some brownies or graylings on hook. Oleg showed me a fantastic fly fishing casting technique, which allowed me to reach cautious trouts rising up 50 feet from me as well as czech nymphing style for big graylings. I didn't count bites, but the total amount of fish was quite obvious though the average size was not big, around 0,5 - 1 pound.

I was so exciting that couldn't stop, but at 6 pm we went back to Prague. It was a great adventure, Oleg, many thanks! See you next time, perhaps we can fish for legendary czech big carp as you've suggested :-)

My wife gave me a lovely birthday present this year. Two days tourism in Prague and three days of fishing anywhere of my choice in Czech Republic.
I researched possibilities, of which I found the only viable option as well as being a well rated business. The name of the outfit is Fishing in Prague. I booked Oleg (the operation's owner) a full month before. I was looking for three days of Trout and Grayling fishing on small streams. I had long been keen to learn the art of Czech Nymphing in situ. I found a winner!

Oleg graciously picked us up at the hotel at 6:30am, whereupon we headed to our fishing lodge, at the confluence of two beautiful small rivers, Kamenice and Jizera.
The fishing lodge, Hotel Pod Spalovem, Simely, was not great in terms of comfort, nor cleanliness owing to the owners not investing in the place. However, current managers Zlatan and his wife Helena went out of their way to try to make us comfortable and they cook really well. We were offered very tasty local dishes and a few other delicacies. For those that follow my Trip Advisor reviews F00die2018, you will remember that my wife and I are devoted vegetarians.

I digress. Back to the fishing with Oleg.
Once on the River Jizera, a 400m walk from the lodge, we spent time choosing flies. We turned over rocks in the river, looked keenly at the beautiful banks and local insects, as well as looking for the best pools to fish, since the waters were very low. Oleg was a thorough and patient teacher, giving me full instruction in the art of Czech nymphing. He helped me by improving my casting techniques, as well as taking me to the best pools and runs on the river. I asked and indeed insisted on his fishing close by me so that I could learn even more. He joined me, smiling keenly as he set up his own rod and equipment.
It was a sunny day with very clear water, but with Oleg's guidance, it wasn't long before we had a fish on. And so we spent the first two days, fishing, my learning, spending quality time with a truly experienced guide and river preservationist. Of course, Oleg caught twice the amount of fish I caught if not more, but then that is my lack of experience and technique. Who cares! The lessons I received and just watching a professional was more than compensatory for my not catching so many fish. The river boasts Brown and Rainbow Trout up to 3Kgs. The Grayling are slightly smaller but oh so much harder to catch. The river is also frequently stocked with small brook trout. Catch and release was the order of our trip, which made me very happy, in a World of Eastern Europeans that want to kill the fish and diminish populations.
On the last day we fished the much smaller river Kamenice. I would better call it a large stream. I hooked a Grayling on my 4th cast, following the techniques shown me in the days before. The water was really low and very clear, which is not really conducive to Trout fishing anywhere. Being the end of October, fly hatches are few and far between, therefore the total lack of rises ruled out a dry fly consideration.
We caught several fish over the three days. I hooked 5 on the first day, 4 on the second day but only one on the short, last day.
On the last day and returning to Prague, Oleg was good enough to drop us off at the airport.

This was undoubtedly the best guided fly fishing experience I have encountered in Europe, over the last 30 years of fly fishing. I highly recommend Oleg and Fishing in Prague. For all those keen fly-fishers as well as newcomers to the sport, that are looking for excellent full service, with a smile and a lot of knowledge, you need look no further.
I hired Oleg as a guide. I ended up having a guide, a teacher, a mentor and making a good friend. All at a really reasonable price. I am now really looking forward to our next meeting, in the late Spring, where we can really explore these waters and others. Thanks Oleg, thanks Fishing In Prague.
All the best! Tight lines!!!

I had the opportunity to attend a conference in Prague, Czech Republic last week. On a whim, I emailed Oleg at Fishinginprague.com asking about the possibility of carp fishing, which I understood was a fish revered in the Czech republic, but, though they are a great sport fish, they don't have the same status in the states. I advised him that I had none of my tackle, no clothing suitable for fishing, and a very narrow break in the conference to go, etc. Well, in less than 24 hours, Oleg not only responded and stated that yes, we could go carp fishing, (and on the day I could go none-the less) he even picked me up and dropped me off at my hotel!! Well the rest is a lifetime memory!. We traveled to a lake with a good population of fish, and less than an hour later I landed my first leather carp, a strain not found int he U.S. and minutes later a beautiful linear mirror carp!!!!...... WOW!!!. The weather was perfect, Oleg was courteous and every bit the fishing guide you would want!! He could easily charge double the rate he had for an ENTIRE DAY of fishing. His knowledge, expertise and sportsmanship were admirable. We ended the day with 16 fish; a number of leather carp, a couple of commons, the linear mirror, several grass carp and two tench!, the latter of which I had never caught before!!!.. Well done Oleg!. If you want to catch carp, he's definitely the guide you want to have! I highly recommend to all the American carp anglers a session with Oleg- you will not be disappointed!..
