One of the most beautiful synagogues in Czechia
Sep 2020
Unfortunately, it is closed for reconstruction in 2020 and we couldn't see it from the inside so we just enjoyed its architecture from the outside.

Impressive piece of local Jewish history

A grand synagogue with a sad and tragic past. While it is worth seeing, it is in need of a little work.

Magnificent building

Now housing a gallery of a massive collection of photos of Pilsen before the war. The same war removed the congregation. A place to reflect on extremism.

Beautiful building
Aug 2019 • Family
It was interesting to visit this grand building given the family connection. Sad to think about why it's no longer in full use.

Stunning architecture, Second largest synagogue in Europe.

Amazing architecture and remarkable that it stands after the Nazi occupation. Beautifully restored testimony to a once thriving and prosperous Jewish community.

Don't miss it.

If you've never been into a synagogue this would be a nice one to start with.
It's very charming and old worldy

A Beautiful Building
Mar 2019 • Couples
We didn't go inside since our furry friend was with us, but this building is amazing from the outside as well. If it's sunny, get on the terrace opposite the synagogue and take pictures from there!

Miracle
Jan 2019 • Solo
It is really a miracle that this magnificent synagogue still stands in the heart of Plzen after the dark decades of European history. The building is very beautiful and impressive.

Unfortunately, during my stay in January 2019 it was closed, so I could only admire it from outside. It will be reopened in March or April. Anyway, really worth visiting!

Stunning architecture

Absolutely stunning to look at. I did not enter the synagogue but I viewed it from across the road and also from atop the St. Bartholomew Cathedral. Very impressed by it, indeed.
