Beautiful little zoo with long winding paths for nice walks so it makes for a good workout too. Almost all the parts of the zoo are accessible with a stroller. Reasonable entry fee. Very nice botanical garden

Nice wildlife. Many facilities close during winter which is not recommend to go during winter time, plus windy. But the animals are really interesting to see. Especially lions! They are so close to the visitors and which we can observe better!

This was our second visit to the zoo. Very nice, easy parking and nice layout overall. You can get pretty close to the animals and both times we came most were pretty active. Well worth a stop. The zoo is a bit hilly, just be aware.

Zoo is very old. Toilets in Dino Park are not cleaned. Food is awful and very expensive by Czech norms. Mini donuts are bitter because of old oil, they do not change it. Gulasch was like water, spiced and with small pieces of offal. Sausages are full of fat, very spicy and red inside.
The bear in the zoo doesn't have enough space. He is surrounded by electric border in small area. They feed him with old bread with mold. It looks like he is just waiting for his death.
General opinion - very sad!

If you want to see under-fed, overheating miserable animals then this is the place to you. After 30 minutes we wanted to leave seeing most animals wishing for death.

Surprisingly enough this is one place ´s I would truly recommend. Over the years the zoo has risen well above the average into one that has a myriad of exhibits from Tigers, penguins, rare snakes...
There is a "train" that picks visitors from the main square for about one Euro and is well worth it.
All in all, I think this is definitely an attraction worth visiting when you are in Plzen - and not only if you have kids!

Plzen is definitely worth visiting. And when you have already enjoyed the city centre and all the colourful neat buildings that are scattered everywhere it is a must to stop at the Plaza Mall to try second floor's ice-cream and then continue to the zoo. (It's 10-15 minute walk, using short-cut paths through the park). The zoo is very good, indeed. It can't be compared to Stuttgart or Dortmund Zoos which are absolutely adorable, but it is a wonderful way to end the day. The zoo is fairly big, full of vegetation and the tigers and lions are big and playful. However, if it is too hot, you may not be able to see some of the other animals. The Dino park could be disappointing for those expecting something impressive, however my boyfriend and I really enjoyed a quick circle round and a short 3D children's film, just for the sake of escaping for some time from the heat outside. Having in mind that Plzen is not a big city, I would say that it's zoo is fantastic and it's entrance fee is justifiable.

The zoo was great, there are alot of animals and you a very close to them and get to see them up close and personal! We really enjoyed our leisurely stroll through the zoo and all the animals we came across were fantastic. We happened to be there during feeding time and got to watch most of the animals be fed. We also went into the DinoPark which is connected with the zoo. It is a great place for the younger kids to see what the dinos were like. Good trip overall
