The building of the hotel Jested at the top of hill of the same name is one of the most attractive and most beautiful jewels of architecture in Czech Republic and it should definitely be on everyone´s bucket list when visiting this country. Amazing interior of its restaurant is worth to see although it has never been top restaurant in the area.
But it is not only that. If you like hiking there are plenty of different ways to get there. All of them with beautiful nature and enjoyable. Or you can go there by cable train.
Jested is a popular getaway destination for locals and you hardly ever find the time when it is not crowded. But you will surely enjoy it.

The Jested hill with tower is an idela place for hiking in nature for families, as well as for older travellers. You may either go up by the cablecar or on your own feet. The restaurant in the tower is OK, however, the prices are a bit higher. But overall it is a very good place.

The Ještěd Tower is a great place to go even with small kids. It is possible to have a lunch or a snack there too. Wonderful view!

Dirty restaurant. Poor menu. Prices like in London. Unwilling staff in a restaurant and parking. Never more!

We enjoyed our hike up Jested. It was very cold and everything was white and frozen, a truly magical place.

Walked up the mountain to visit the Resturant and see the views of the area, was really surprised with the old communist style of the Resturant was kept perfectly maintained. Well worth the visit and the restaurant food was really good too.

Cable car is right along side the hotel and was a pleasant walk down the mountain. Great views on a clear day.

Well worth a visit

We went up there today and it was just to hard to get to. There are no signs anywhere at all from the town. We finally took a tram halfway to the top and honestly had an extreme upward walk that took another 25 min. Remember also, there are no sidewalks and your practically walking through the streets with cars up a 2 mile hill. There are no signs when you get up the hill and we stopped several times to ask anyone we saw. No one speaks English so that was tough. We used GPS at the end but the visibility at that height is impossible with the small blizzards. There is a lot of walking and they take no precautions to help people walk on the ice. You are at your own risk. You can drive all the way up there if you want but you’d have to rent a car. There are no Uber’s or Taxis so walking back down was a nightmare. Do not recommend for children, elderly, back issues because it will drain you unless you make the actual drive. Public transportation is not the way to go like most people attempt.

There are many ways to get to the top. We chose the alpine hiking trail. Boy was it a hike! The incline beats any stair stepper but the view is so worth it. It wasn’t too hot so the total hiking time was about 80 minutes while taking the tram takes about 5 minutes. I don’t regret hiking. There was nobody around until the last .5 mile when we merged on the regular family friendly hiking trail. Views from the top are magnificent and for sure stop at the second floor restaurant. The meals aren’t cheap but the food is very good and the added view from even greater elevation is again worth it. Try the homemade lemonades after hiking nothing tastes better.

This is an old venue but full of character. You reach it by taking a cable car up quite high and when you arrive there are spectacular views. The dinner was excellent and the service by the staff were impeccable.
