Trips are made of planned itineraries and unexpected surprises. This was a surprise. We were walking to ST. Barbara's cathedral. I spied this, literally as we were walking past it and there was an Exhibition about the Jewish community of Kutna Hora. We walked in; the guide or docent was the husband of a woman who'd written much of the text on the exhibition posters. He was super enthusiastic, excellent English; we spent an unexpected hour there. The building is a former synagogue, and there is currently a Christian congregation there. This is a must and anyone visiting KH would be well worth visiting this. A real humanistic exhibition; not just about the Holocaust but about the history, mayors, politicians, artists, and families of KH. Some ofo the survivors are as interesting as the fated - one Kutna Horian escaped the Holocaust and moved to Venezuela to become a brewer for Polar Breweries; he realized south American tastes did not lean to bitter pilsner styles beers so he added corn syrup and eliminated some of the hops and made the beer more popular. So now you know why most South American beers are undrinkable to the aficianado! I believe the guides name was Daniel; he was really motivated and spoke to us for nearly an hour. Thank you!

As the title said, we took pictures of the outside (we actually parked our bike up in the road to go to and visit St Barbara's Church) but didn't realise you could actually go inside and visit. The outside looked good - wish we had gone in so all I can add is if your visiting Kutna Hora and St Barbaras Church, it right near the church ( you may walk past it too) Go and visit - you only live once so add to your experiences and knowledge

Former synagogue is now a church but has lots of jewish historic symbols. Kutna Hora is an interesting town and silver mine tour is good but would rather spend more time in Prague.
