kutna hora visit
Nov 2019 • Solo
a great day out of a Prague visit . kutna hora a delight with the the super attraction of the ossuary church. I went self guided by train -about £12 return 1hour 15 min each way from Prague- maybe better to have had £40 guided trip . for those self travellers be aware that kutna hora main station is 6km from the town centre to get to where you want you need to switch trains at main station ( no problem that match timewise) and get off at at kutna hora sedelac for the ossuary which is still 4km out of centre so then it walk!!! bus or know the train time to kutna hora mosta the town centre (ish) station. hence that's why a £40 guided trip which might include lunch is probably a better option

Plague Column of the Virgin Mary Immaculate
Oct 2019
The column is supposed to be a reminder of the plague of 1713-1715. I can't read Czech, but I don't see any reference to the plaque on the column at all. It does however look like a typical Marian column with a sculpture of Mary at the apex of the column which has been sculpture to look like clouds and cherubs to look like the assumption of Mary. At the base of the column are four saints, although I could only identify St Sebastian.

The monument is well executed and is worth a look when visiting the city.

Plaque Column
Aug 2019
It was built between 1713 and 1715 as a reminder of the plague epidemic and it is protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. You can easily find it in the city centre.

One of the most imposing plague columns
May 2019
A pretty specimen of this common type of monument in Central European medieval towns. Quite elaborate, ornate and with meticulously restored inscriptions. Sadly, nothing whatsoever around here to provide some contextual information.

It is nice statue in Kutna Hora's old town. Surrounded with beautiful buildings. Nice to see when passing by.

I thought this was stunning and a highlight of Kutna Hora. The column is nicely made and stands out in the centre.

Baroque Pillar in the centre of town
Dec 2018
Kutna Hora and the whole Bohemia were hit by plague several times. Besides the sanctuary at nearby Sedlec (good for brave visitors only - a collection of 10.000 skeletons, skulls and bones arranged into altarpiece and similar - Virgin Mary Column reminds of those bad time

Beautiful plague column
Mar 2018 • Solo
The plague column in the center of town was built to commemorate the end of the Plague. It follows the usual three tiered structure of other contemporary plague columns and is surrounded by a balustrade.

It is a great photo spot or meeting point and is worth a short stop if you are in town.

Must visit
Dec 2018 • Couples
Must be part of the tour while you visit Kutna Hora. At the sunset will be the best time to see it as the hole city gets a different glimpse.
