The Gothic stone fountain is a fountain on Rejsek Square that was built in 1493 by Matěj Rejsek. The Gothic influences are clear as all around the fountain are Gothic style sculptures and miniature towers. The fountain is twelve-sided and exceptionally large for something only has a couple of water outlets and seems to be fully enclosed with a hexagonal roof. The fountain doesn’t seem to dispense water, at least not when I was there.
The fountain is considered a landmark of the city and is worth looking for its monumental size, although I wouldn’t go out of the way unless you have time.

This is situated in the middle of the town and was used as a water collection point. The air was crisp and clean on the day that we visited and we really enjoyed our walk through the town.

We were exploring the town after lunch and came across this by chance. Great to see 13th century architecture so well preserved.

Gothic Stone Fountain. The intensive mining activity of the Middle Ages disrupted the underground water sources. The problem was solved in 1495 when this stone fountain was constructed to serve as a water reservoir. Drinking water was brought via wooden piping from the spring of St. Adalbert and the town was supplied water this way until 1890.

At first it is just a surprise in the middle of a small square. When you walk around you realize that this is interesting fountain, important for the old city. Citizens care and maintain the fountain as centuries ago. It was built in the 15. Century and has some Gothic details.

This Gothic stone fountain was used for centuries by townspeople to obtain good drinking water, not contaminated by the mining that was taking place in town. It is an example of Gothic architecture and a time where running water was in only the houses of the very wealth.

the stone fountain has 12 sides and was built in 1493 designed by Matej REJSEK.. [ he designed St.Barbaras and the Powder Tower in Prague]...it originally had a hexagonal roof and supplied the town with water when the water supply was cut off due to silver mining.....the water was brought in from 4 klms away in wooden pipes.....a nice piece of local history

i guess you will have the time to see more interesting monuments and places during your visit to Kutna Hora, however it is recommended during your "flat walk" in the city.
