You can get completely overwhelmed by the baroque in this part of the world. One elaborate altarpiece fades into another. St. Barbara's is no exception but is well worth a visit if only to admire the amazing roof line from across the town and the...More

Located in Kutna Hora town. To get there, I took a tour available on one of the easily to choose city tours available in the fliers at the hotels. It is a massive church that reigns in the middle of this old town. It is...More

The St’ Barbara cathedral is the grandiose monument of humans’ talents. Humanity’s actions can be very upsetting. If I were the alien I would skip visiting our planet. Fortunately, there are places like St’ Barbara that are breathtaking and amazingly well preserved. Hey, aliens and...More

The Cathedral of St Barbara is beautiful, and maybe only second to St Vitus if you are interested in seeing Czech religious architecture. I preferred it to St Vitus -- there are beautiful, well-preserved frescoes on some of the chapels and on the ceilings. If...More

We've visited hundreds of Gothic cathedrals, but this is the first time I've seen a working man so prominently displayed. There he is in his white robe (so he could find his fellow workers in the pitch dark) and black leather apron, worn behind his...More
