STRANGE and unusual, no crowds of tourists in the center of Karlovy Vary. Maybe because it was about to rain😃 ...

The Mill Colonnade is an exemplary embodiment of an imaginative idea. You can drink water from hot springs and at the same time you have somewhere to hide your head from bad weather. So if you are lucky and the colonnade is not under reconstruction.

Of course one cannot avoid it in the city as it has a beautiful colonnade look and a few hot water springs. This place is immediately springs in the memory when being asked about Karlovy Vary experience. Just buy a long nosed cup for water and sip to the full)))

While I have been told that most people find the Mill Colonnade to be their favorite of the big three, I thought this was my least favorite even though it had the most hot springs. Sure, it was a beautiful marble structure featuring a series of columns in a very Romanesque style. In addition to the columns, the colonnade also offers numerous statues above the portico. While my exact count might be off, I think there were a total of five springs of varying degrees in this colonnade. Don't get me wrong, while it was my least favorite, it was still spectacular.

The Mlýnská kolonáda is the most beautiful of the Colonnades in Karlovy Vary. The architechture from the 19th century is beautiful. Inside, there are a several springs of mineral water, where you can drink, if you have a cup. Cups are sold by souvenir sellers around. Inside, there is also the famous Rusalka spring (Nr. 7), one of the most popular springs. Unfortunately, one part of this Colonnade was closed due to construction works for repair.

The whole building is big construction place! The works have just started so I expect the place will not be worth of visit for next several months. This is not the issue only for this place - you can meet the same through the whole city. I only can recommend: Do not visit Carlsbad (karlovy Vary) at least this year!

Unfortunately it was under renovation during my visit, so I could see only part of this beautiful colonnade. Three of six springs were available to people and it was possible to see through scaffolding big Corintian columns. Usually live concerts take place here and it is a nice place for walk. So I hope next time, after renovation, I'll can enjoy this place more.

You reach this beautiful colonnade or Kolonada by walking the Stara Louka (for pedestrians only with no cars nor other vehicles) which is the main street at the left side of the Tepla River.

It is definitively a must see in this splendid town of Karlovy as you can see in the pictures I have attached.

By the way you can also see it in one of the last James Bond Movie, Casino Royal I believe which also took place at the Grand Hotel Pupp.

You have around Spa's, restaurants, souvenirs sellers all along which make it even more interesting as you can stop and buy gifts for your relative and friends.

And since you're there try to drink the water, after all this all what it should be about there...

Right after this Kolonada you reach the other and not less beautiful colonnade: The Vridelni Kolonada with its small and lovely park adjoining it where you'll enjoy a quiet and relaxing break.

All the area is what makes Karlovy Vary so famous in the world and being in Karlovy and not walking this beautiful street and its splendid pieces of architecture and Colonnades would be missing the point of it.

The Mill Colonade and the mineral water spots are very interesting. We didn't have enough time in KV to participate in a whole multi-week spa experience, but the whole concept is very interesting.
