The staff here is excellent. We enjoyed all the floors. Such a diverse collection from Christmas ornaments to production tools to jewelry and high end glass art. Not too big but a little something for everyone. Nice gift shop as well.

The City Jablonec nad Nisou and the surrounding Jizera mountain region is since the 19.century one of the most important centres of glass beads and fashion jewellery manufacturing in the Europe. The museum of glass and fashion jewellery has an outstanding collection of antique pieces produced here. If you love beading it will be a great inspiration for you! And then after the museum visit you can spend some money in many Jablonec bead shops and start to create your own jewellery.

We have been to other glass museums before but this one also has beads. You can see mostly Czech glass and and beads of course but also some Italian and German and even English. There is also a collection of coins and things made out of wood, like jewelry.
We even bought some Bohemia glasses, so lovely and so cheap!

This was a quite interesting museum of costume jewellery (particularly glass-based jewellery) and Czech glassware. It's a pleasant, well-appointed building quite close to the centre, and contains an impressively huge number of items.
Unfortunately I thought the displays suffered a little from relying too much on the number of - often fairly similiar - pieces (e.g. salesman's trade cards), and showed too little of the manufacturing process. There are indeed machines from the production process, but they aren't really explained as well as could be.
The display of glassware - especially of the very high end pieces - was amazing. Overall the museum is certainly worth a visit, even though it could be improved, and I'm glad I saw it.

Before visiting this museum I had a bit vague idea about bijouterie origin and was surprised that that very nice but relatively small Jablonec was the birthplace of it. And that in XIX century bijouterie production was booming industry - like production of smartphones now :) The collection as really huge - and I was pleasantly surprised when saw samples of buttons the same I saw at home in childhood :)

This museum is amazingly put together, from the moment you walk through the front door this is such a professional place. We took the audio tour which we would recommend, each section is numbered and the narration is well done. Not only is this a great collection of glass but is fascinating in showing the many and varied techniques that have been used for making glass products. Additionally there is a section dedicated to the minting of coins. This is the Czechia museum centre for glass.
If you like glass in its many forms then this is a great place to visit.

I highly suggest this museum if you love beads, buttons, glassware. They change the displays several times a year. Wonderful to bring your friends to show them the history of glass.

My husband and I decided to visit this museum with our 2 kids. Our expectations were exceeded. It is a lovely reconstructed building inside and outside.
The exhibition is children friendly :-) Our daughters 3 and 8 years old enjoyed it. They got quiz questions, they could make christmas staff from paper etc.
You definitely have to visit this museum.

This glass museum was stunning. It is a lot bigger than on first impressions. There are around 3 levels, all of which have lots of different glass sculptures, beads etc.

There are also lots of jewellery, old coins and modern sculptures. There is simply so much to see, it really is a lovely place to visit if you have a spare day to make the drive to Jablonec.
