BOAT RIDE - be prepare to experience some well learned jokes from the ship operator (in Czech and German, he didn´t know English). We went with a young guy whose speech was probably repeated for the hundredth time. You will not learn anything about the history of the gorge or the history of the park during the ride. In short it was just a wannabe funny describing of rocks that looks similar to Bart Simpson or the Easter bunny... so sit back, relax and read info boards along the way because you won´t get any info on the boat...
The waterfall is fake, the ship operator had to pull a rope to make it fall :D
You would totally appreciate a beer after that which was 50 crowns. Also I recommend to go there in the morning, we were almost alone on the way there on Saturday around 10 a.m.
BUT - this boat ride was just a 20 minutes long part of an otherwise wonderful experience. We parked in Hřensko and took a walk towards Edmundova soutěska, I honestly didn´t know where to look first. Beautiful nature and views, the path is not hard at all and totally safe.

The last time I have visited Edmund’s Gorge was about 30 years ago. Since then there have been a lot of improvements for tourists. I chose to use public transportation to go to Mezna then use the green trail to walk across the bridge. Please see my review of the Wild Gorge for details. From there you can turn left and visit the Wild Gorge, or turn right along the yellow trail to get to Edmund’s Gorge boat rides, about 30 minutes easy walk. There is a restaurant just before you get to the boat rides with plenty of outdoor seating and toilets. The boat ride takes about 20 minutes and the guide points out different rock formations in a humorous way. Each boat takes 26 passengers, dogs are allowed. After that we continued for about 30 minute on the yellow trail along the river to the exit/entrance to Gorges. There are several restaurants, refreshment stands, parking (always full) and bus stops there. We had about 45 minute wait for a bus going to Decin, so we sat down at the picturesque Klepac restaurant and had another round of adult refreshments. I highly recommend this route instead of going in the opposite direction, you start by going downhill instead of ending your walk with a tiring uphill climb.

Good to see it, something around 1,5km from parking lot. Spectecular view - river, forest, path. Nothing hard even for older people.

We walked through the canyon and honestly, it was quite nice. Nice formations and nice water. We've seen more beautiful gorges but that's not reason to knock this one.
A good reason to not give this walk a good rating is the awful boat trip that puts you in a tourist trap. Taking the boat back you're faced with a long line of people waiting, keep walking through the gorge and you're faced with a 100 meter ascent, a BIG challenge with children. Did you make the ascent? Congratulations, there might be, or might not be a bus for you in the small town, no-one knows and no-one will help you. Our bus didn't show up for an hour.

First off, if you want to complete the hiking route through the gorges, you can't avoid the two boat rides. You might have to wait a bit for a boat to arrive and unload its passengers before you're able to board.

The views in the gorges were beautiful and I guess the boat ride is probably more entertaining if you understand the boatsman. Our two boatsmen spoke Czech and something vaguely resembling German. It was hard to make out which rock they were pointing at and what it was supposed to look like. I would have been fine with just sitting in silence and enjoying the views. At one point, there's an artificial waterfall that really makes the whole experience more like something in an amusement park than a national park.

walking there would offer you very nice view. you wouldn't feel bored to have a hiking in that area. it isn't hard for beginners as well. Most roads are flat without many staircases. however, the way is a bit long so you should prepare enough water and rest enough before going.

we walked up the gorge, it is fine walk, I recommend.
but we were in bad luck, midway we caught a rain, which lasted all day.
so we only walked up to the boats and the returned. we had no desire to sit on the wet boat sits.
I am positive up the gorge, with the boats is way more interesting.

We did a full circle fromU-Forta and it included the river walk- didn't seem like we were continually headed up a gradual slope and the pictures and scenery were outstanding. Really an unspoiled area, which is not yet overwhelmed by tourists.
