small, but even nicer ZOO - small, but even nicer ZOO.
Although the ZOO is smaller in terms of area, there are a lot of animals here.
One does not have to walk many kilometers to see everything. Despite the fact that we went through almost the entire ZOO, we walked less than 1 km but spent more than two hours here.

Quite a small zoo, so good for smaller kids. Some interesting animals like the bears, all well sign posted and informative, and pretty inexpensive as well.
Animals looked well cared for as well

It is an ideal place for families with children who normally could be bored soon. Not large but interesting - these are main features of this ZOO. And children can find many activities to amuse themselves!

Had a really good time on a lovely June afternoon strolling around Decin Zoo with a friend. If you want to see as many exotic species as possible, this zoo is not for you. But if you're coming for a nice stroll with friends and family with lots of places to rest and relax, give Decin a chance. Animals on exhibit include brown bears, a number of mammals and rodents, a few wild cats, several primate species and Eurasian and tropical birds.
Pros: very relaxing atmosphere, very green, lots of playgrounds. Enclosures are big for most animals (e.g. lots of space for capras and other ungulates, and a pretty big enclosure for the Siberian brown bear with places to hide) and the enclosures are well looked after. Most animals I saw looked well and did not show problematic or stereotypical behaviour. A zoo as small as this one should not try to attract visitors with exotic animals they are not equipped to look after and, for the most part, this one doesn't. The entry fee (100 Kr) is very fair given that you can walk around for at least 2-3 hours, discovering new things.
Cons: It's a hillside zoo and I think it would be a challenge for people pushing strollers, let alone for people in a wheelchair. Some animals, however pretty they are to look at, are almost impossible to keep properly in small zoos, including large birds (like owls and falcons) and large wild cats; there is certainly some room for improvement with regard to their enclosures at Decin.

A really small, sweet and adorable zoo with a number of interesting species. The highlight is for sure the beautiful brown bears. The zoo is situated at the top of a very steep hill, and many of the pathways are quite sloped, so be prepared for a fair bit of climbing! There is a nice cafe and the zoo often runs fun activities for children.

The zoo is not big but very cosy. The animals look good and happy. There are all sorts of little interactive play signs for children with information about the animals and a nice playground. They have a lot of europian native animals wich we liked a lot. They dont have big animals like lions or elephants but it is still very nice.

Arranged in the natural environment with a close contact. Grizzly bears are the feature of the place and can be seen pretty close.

Is it possible for somebody who has visited the zoo recently to advise if they still have the Malayan sun bear? I know in 2016 there was still one male bear living at the zoo, but I am unsure if he is still there now?
