Tour to Magnificent Ballroom
Sep 2019
While the Upper Castle grounds are free to explore, you'll need to take a tour to access the interiors. Two different tour routes give you a glimpse of the places where the noble families such as Rozmberks, Eggenbergs, and Schwarzenbergs dined, studied, worked, prayed, entertained, and slept. You will promenade through a long series of elegant spaces and the sumptuous dining hall before enjoying the last stop - Ballroom of the Rosenbergs or Masquerade room - or Hall of Mirrors - the magic original painted ballroom. The brightly figures painted on the walls surround by the mirrors will seem lively and three-dimensional. The guide will tell how using mirrors, masquerade participants exchanged mysterious signs.

Better choose Tour 1 (Gothic and Renaissance rooms, of the most general interest). Open Tue- Sun 9 am - 16 pm. Smart take a ticket as early morning as you can and then build your castle visit around your tour time (you'll be issued a ticket with your tour time printed on it). Ticket price around 13.50 dollars, tour duration 55 minutes. Be in the correct courtyard at that time, or you'll be locked out.

Masquerade Ballroom
Jul 2019
Actually it is not Rosenberg's Ballroom, but Schwarzenberg's Ballroom decorated in 1748. The frescoes on the walls show people in masks creating 3D effect so everybody on the walls looks like they are about to step out of the wall. It is unique and it is part of the guided tour (I.route) of the castle interiors. You cannot see it independently. But the tour is great and the tourguides are educated professionals.

One of the highlights of castle tour

This can be seen as part of the castle tour I. Unique in its almost whimsical painted wall and the artist's use of vibrant bright colors instead of the usual heavy brocades, gold gilt, mirrors, and wall paper.

Part of the basic tour
Sep 2018 • Couples
Visiting the Rosenbergs Ballroom is part of the basic tour. The tour is very worthwhile if you want to see the inside of the castle. Get your tickets early and then walk around the castle grounds waiting for your tour time.

beautiful painting

The paintings in the ballroom are just fascinating as the characters and colours are so vivid. The tour guide told us that the paintings were centuries old and had not been repainted. If he is telling the truth, this is simply amazing!

THE Highlight Of The Castle
Jun 2018 • Couples
The ballroom is the one breath of liveliness in an otherwise drab and somewhat dreary castle. I would have liked to seen a performance in the space. The characters that adorn all of the walls are delightful.

Fabulous

The castle in Cesky Krumlov is well worth a visit and it would be hard to choose a favourite part but I loved the ballroom, The paintings were magnificent and the guide points out interesting things one might miss themselves. It's huge and just gorgeous.
