It is a must see if you want to know more about the history of this city. It covers all periods of history since stone age.

This was a pleasant surprise, full of lots of information about the town over the ages. It covers archeology to dress to current events. The top fools is the most interesting with a large model of the town. It is worthwhile to visit and has none of the crowds like the castle and castle treasure museum.

So worth seeing. You start on the upper floor, (stairs, no elevator) with thie discovery of prehistoric bones in 1933. Very interestng history of the area, the nazis and Communist occupation, as well as the day to day lives. Also reproduction (I think) clothing and the peasant outfits from each area of the region. There are English translations on every display. They close for lunch, so be sure to get here when they open or right after lunch so you have enough time. Also the area has cute markets, stores and eateries that are better and cost less than around the river and old town, charming area.

This museum was somewhat interesting but you have to take what's written with a grain of salt. There were only 2 or three panels on naziism and on the forced expulsion of Germans after the war. This museum made it seem like the Czechs were not complicit in that violent expulsion or in the final solution. In fact , they display two "authorizations" for people to receive and apply for formerly Jewish property without explanation of why and also an in translated anti Semitic newspaper. Also unexplained is why a successful and philanthropic family who ran a paper mill and set up an orphanage after WWi. Among other charities lost their business in 1938. There is also a display about the theater , run by a Jewish man for 30+ years , which continued on after he was removed around 1938 "because he was Jewish". I think this museum could be much better if it contained panels with explanations of what happened in the 1930s and 1940s instead of whitewashing or saying nothing

We went there today. What an awesome place with so much to see and learn. Most exhibits had notes in English. The entry price is very reasonable at 50Kr. Learnt a lot about the Czech history as well as C Krumlov. Certainly worth a visit if you have a couple of hours to spare.

This museum is very well done - takes you thru the complete history of the area - from caveman finds up to present day. Very informative and interesting - with artifacts, art, photographs, and an amazing model of the entire town. Very cool to see photographs from the 1800's of buildings and streets we walked on as well. Kids might get bored, but for adults who like history, don't miss it!

This three level museum is a must for anyone interested in the regional history of Cesky Krumlov. Only 100 Kronos each and we'll worth spending 2-3 hours at least.

We have seen an interesting exhibition on the 20th century history of Cesky Krumlov, including the period around WW2 and the communistic era. The normal exhibition is also quit nice.

This was a most interesting and attractively presented museum. Almost all the captions included an English version and must-see exhibits included the ceramic model of Cesky Krumlov and tableaux of period figures and contemporary items.
There were relevant features acknowledging the fact that the year marked the centenary of WW1 and there were many fascinating accounts, photos and films of how flooding and wartime had affected the town.
