We visited this museum as we were out of things to do and it was getting dark outside. In retrospect, slightly regret it as it failed to hit any buttons - for a torture museum, although they tried to work up an atmosphere through dim lighting, some breezes, steps and walls hiding things slightly, it was not that scary or gory.

Given the entrance fee, I would suggest spending your time and CZK elsewhere.

The atmosphere in this museum in the cellars below the main square was fantastic. We were walking through stone carved cobbled tunnels with low doorways and dim lighting. It really gave an edge to the proceedings which you would imagine should occur in a dingy dungeon rather then a brightly lit room as in Pragues Torture Museum. There were numerous wax work displays which looked a little cheap but the dim lighting helped them keep an air of mystery. There were a number of implements on display including shame masks used to shame the wearer, whips and a chastity belt which left the woman suffering, and thumb screws and branding irons. One interesting piece was a belt for cheaters which featured several heavy dice and cards which the cheater would have to wear as punishment. There were also several stocks which would hold the prisoner immobile. There was a lot of witch craft related scenes and a rack.
It was a wonderful tour and best enjoyed with no one else in there. It would have been more difficult navigating a crowd and whilst there was plenty of information on the boards to read, the low lighting often made this very difficult. However it was an interesting and enjoyable visit.

Nice museum to see, definitely not “must” or at least not the first thing to do here around. Been in better and bigger ones. This one is average. I recommend it at Halloween, they have special treats.

We happened to walk by this place and decided to check it out. My husband and I love history so we thought it was real interesting. The museum has 3 floors and has alot of torture instruments from history with descriptions and pictures/drawings. It was sad and scary to learn how they used these instruments.

Whent in to get aut of the rain and was happy I did.
The museum shoul have better markings so you know where to go it has a lot of stairs and off to the side almost hidden rooms. I had to go back and forward 2 or 3 times to find all that but the ambiance didnt suffer for that. I also had the pleasure to scare some couple when i was going the wrong way in one of the tunels.

An interesting activity to do if you have some free time. I wouldn't say appropriate for children though! All self guided with a few different sections. Would take you max an hour. Can't confirm the price but from what I remember it was a great price for what it was.

This museum is located in the Old Town Square (ignore the map in the Trip Advisor app - I'm not sure where it was trying to send me). It takes you underground into a dungeon-like complex that has a number of scenes of torture. There are a range of torture instruments on display along with some reproductions.

Many of the displays have explanations in four languages (Czech, English, Italian and German). They can be a bit hard to read due to the lighting but provide some good background to the displays. There are reproductions pages for books etc showing various scenes of torture.

This museum is a good choice if you are a fan of horror movies, and it is cheap too.

€6 entry fee and very worth it. Just a random little place to spend 30 mins to witness some of the not so pleasant torture tools used throughout history. Has a dungeon feel to it, and it's a little novel idea if you're into things not so mainstream and touristy.
