On the top floor there are a few, well-presented works by Schiele. Having already visited the Schiele museum in Vienna & a fantastic exhibition in Paris, this was quite small. On the other hand, there were the 5 most erotic drawings I've ever seen by him!
The other floors had temporary exhibits by Czech artists and one Japanese artist.
An interesting place to visit after seeing the castle if you have time.

A very well curated art gallery. Staring at the top of the amazing building is the very informative Egon Schiele exhibition which is a gem. The Ivana Lomova exhibition is a must see and a fascinating insight into the ordinary made beautiful. In contrast is the energetic bright and challenging work of Janz Franz on the ground floor which again has been well curated. The staff were attentive, informative and friendly. Well worth the entrance fee.

I had 6 hours at Cesky Krumolov to kill. The castle only took so much of your time and the Egon Schiele museum was a pleasant surprise. As an admirer of Schiele's works, I hadn't realized there was a museum dedicated to his works in Cesky Krumolov (he apparently spent some years here, his mother's homeland). I easily spent couple hours here. The museum was also showing exhibits by female artists when I visited. Overall, I found the museum more worthwhile than the National Gallery museums in Prague.

The word bohemian has a dual meaning in English. It can mean something or someone from Bohemia or it can describe a characteristic of a person or object. Here is something that embraces the full meaning of Bohemian.

The art centre is the base of the collection of the artist Egon Schiele who worked in Cesky Krumlov and produced art that personified the word bohemian. It also features exhibits by many other artists, commissioned work and international exhibits. The art on show is world class and as important as any on show at MoMa or a Guggenheim, but it focusses on a particular niche, the art of the everyday object.

The particular exhibit which caught our eye was the history of the elevated shoe, an exhibition from the Bata Shoe Museum in Toronto in its first european exhibition. It was fantastic to have the privilege to see this wonderful exhibit of the great artistic and social history of elevated shoes over history.

I am certain that few tourists came and found these exhibits and spent their time in souvenir shops;but we felt it was the highlight of our whole trip to the czech republic.

I went to this museum when I was in Cesky Krumlov. I confess that I had no idea of the life of Egon Schiele, so I enjoyed the presentation they had of it. Spent about 1 hour there, good time.

Such a gem of a museum in enchanting city. A must see. There are other magnificent artists' work on exhibition in addition to Schiele's.

Cesky Krumlov may be part of the Unesco World Heritage sites, however from all our visits we were deeply disappointed by the quality of the service and a general lack of kindness and politeness. For the latter we rather experienced the opposite.

We were running out of time and weren't able to visit the museum - so we limited our visit to the museum shop only. The two employees were friendly and helpful - one of them assisted us also by leaving his place to change what we chose with something better and less expensive.

One may wonder: was this so important? My answer is: Yes, if you are in Cesky Krumlov. In a place where the price of a toilet varies from 7 to 8 to 10 Czech korunas, and waiters and waitresses reward a generous tip with an unfriendly sigh, the kindness and politeness of the two employees at the Egon Schiele Art Centre gives hope that things can always change to the better.

You don't have to be a big Schiele fan to enjoy this modern art gallery in the centre of Cesky Krumlov. There are temporary exhibitions spread over three floors and the Schiele display is only on the top floor. The building has been nicely modernised and the lower floors feel bright and airy. The art on display in May 2017 was not too avant garde and was of a high quality. I would highly recommend making time to view this gallery if you visit Cesky Krumlov.

I was blown out of the water with the exhibits and level of art that is available to be viewed here. I was lucky enough to see Pavel Brazda and his wife's work. Pavel is extremely talented and I enjoyed his exhibit very much! The staff was friendly and layout was amazing. Please do stop here to see a bit of the modern side of the Czech Republic after viewing one of the last castles built in the country.

Just a heads up to all travelers that the gallery is closed in winter... Very strange because there was a man at the desk whose sole job seemed to be to inform people of this fact!
