Been wanting to visit this brewery ever since I have been visiting the Czech Republic. Went on weekend and chose the English tour. Guide was knowledgeable on the works, testing was a suorise, and some nice mementos. Some stair climbing involved. And allow for 1 1/2 hrs

We took a part the German speaking tour. It was really interesting. The tour guide was very kind and the other staffs were friendly as well. There was a baby with our group and they was patient with her too. To sum up we enjoyed our time. I would recommend this program for those who interested in beers.

The English speaking tour was very good. No language barriers and quite informative. Tour guide was open to many questions and had the answers. Particularly liked hearing the history of the brand. My biggest surprise was the difference in taste from the beer in the gift shop versus the free, large pour we got straight from the vat at the end of the tour—wow! There are a couple of restaurants in town where the brewery has a vat in each; check them out because the difference in the beer served that way is amazing. Plan for about an hour on the tour then some time in the gift shop. Well worth the visit. Open 7 days a week, 9 to 5.

My boyfriend loves czech beer, last time we went to pollen so this time it was off to budvar. We were met by George and given a fantastic tour of the brewery, my personal highlight was the bottle room, seeing the beer put into bottles and packed but I did also enjoy the beer in the cellar. It was a 2 hour train ride from prague which was itself fun and definitely worth it.

Very interesting tour of the original Budweiser Brewery. Apparently these two companies are rivals. One brother came to the US and started the brewery by the same name. We had a great guide who gave us lots of tips. Tasting the fresh beer was the best part. I've not had beer any better than that! Definitely a great stop!

We visited for the 2pm English tour. The guide was very knowledgeable and did our tour in English, German and French. It took about an hour and a half. No reservation needed.

I was amazed that we were able to take photos of whatever interested us.

There was plenty of free parking. I enjoyed the original Budweiser Beer in CZ much more then the American style.

I would recommend this tour to others.

We made the trip from Cesky Krumlov to see the brewery and take the tour and it was worth it. They only did 1 walk-up tour in English and it was at 2:00pm. The tour fee was not much, only a few Euro and included a small tasting when in the cellars. We only had 3 people on our tour so it was like a private tour. It was very informative and well ran and lasted about 60 minutes. They had a nice gift shop and clean bathrooms. A good afternoon spent.

This original Budweiser beer was brewed here since 1785. As such there is only one "true" Budweiser brewery and it is here in the Czech Republic! The name copyrights were settled with Anheuser-Busch as discussed below.

The tour of this brewery is quite interesting, as it differs from the usual U.S. brewery tours. The most important ingredient is the water, which is so pure it is 4 times as pure as water for infants and 40 times more pure than bottled water. All the other ingredients come from local sources, so you might even call this a craft beer. The tour shows all the steps of making Budweiser, including bottling and shipping. The only taste offered is a glass of unfiltered pilsner. A yeasty tasting but delicious sample. There are 6 types of beer made. I bought a four pack of the dark. Later on we tried the dark beer and it was outstanding! I even tracked it down in the U.S.

The Czech Budweiser and Anheuser-Busch went head to head for the copyright. The Czech Budweiser won in an international court. Czech Budweiser is sold in North America under the label Czechvar and American Budweiser is labeled as Bud in all European Union markets, except for Ireland and the United Kingdom.

How good is the Czech Budweiser? Budweiser is one of the highest selling beers in the Czech Republic and exports into more than 60 countries across all continents. On the German market, it is the second best selling brand among imported lagers, first among imported beers in the Austrian market and in Great Britain the best selling Czech lager.

So a tour of this brewery is revealing and informative. You can try the "real" Budweiser in the U.S. by buying Czechvar beer. Only the pilsner and dark beers are imported. They really are worth trying and a tour of the brewery a treat.

I visited the Pilsner Urquell Brewery in Plzen a couple of days before, so I could compare the tours. I was not disappointed. In Plzen they are very strict and you cannot just walk around the premises (you go by bus). Here's it's more relaxed. The guide also spoke much better German. You can take pictures as many as you like. Unfortunately I could not have a drink or a bite to eat in the restaurant before the tour started because this was obviously completely reserved for a German group?? So I ended up having a coffee (!) in a nearby shopping centre...(at the recommendation of the cashier). Fortunately the tour was worthwhile the time and money later on.

Interesting to know Budweiser Beer we have been drinking all along is not the original, it is Czech Budweiser (Budvar) is the original. Very interesting history. Unfiltered beer sampling was too good. Worth visiting for beer lovers.
