One thing in Ceske Budejovice that you can't miss. The place is situated right in the middle of historical center with a lot of cafés, restaurants, city hall, information center, etc. Be aware that everything at the place is quite expensive, but that's very typical for city centers.
I liked the fact that there is a lot of stands for bikes. The thing that I didn't like was the fact that there were also a lot of cars driving at the square - the place has the road at the edge of the square. This I find almost dangerous and I would prefer not to see the cars there at all. Another thing that I would like to point out are missing trees. I think they would be excellent at the main square and they could be planted there instead of the cars...

Saturday afternoon visit. Nice market in the square, which was enjoyable. Point to note - on Saturday afternoon all the shops in the square were closed, which limits the possibilities somewhat. Easy access to Budvarka, Masne Kramy and Minipivovar Krajinska 27, which make for good refreshment opportunities.

As the square has a dimension of 133 x 133 metres it is one of the largest squares in the Czech Republic and is surrounded with Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and neoclassical civil houses and arcades. In earlier times called: Hlavní náměstí, Veliké náměstí, Kaiser-Franz-Josef-Platz, Masarykovo náměstí, Adolf-Hitler-Platz, in 1990 náměstí Jana Žižky z Trocnova. Central on the square the 18th-century Baroque fountain with statue of Samson who is fighting a lion, a stone's throw away from this fountain a "bludný kámen" (eratic boulder) marked by a cross and embedded in the pavement which marks the site of the medieval execution scaffold and gallow (1470), further the 15th century town hall, etc.

I have been to this square many times. So lovely when covered by snow but doesn’t happen often.
This time around Christmas and a Christmas market.
If you want the best view then go up the tower and watch.mh
In this time of the year you must go in warm clothes to sit, drink and listen to music and forget the life problems!
