Beautiful beach in Crete, nice and sheltered, sea was lovely, sun beds were reasonable, good selection of cafes and places to eat, best beach we went on whilst in Crete

Great beach!!! Truely I can recommend it to everyone. Half sandy and half stone beach, water is warmer than in beaches on east from Myrtos and it is great for snorkelling! There are many fishes and other nice animals!

Loved this small, relaxed simple village and beach. Perfect for snorkelling around the rocks with kids. Water is safe and calm. Lovely cafes and restaurants along the front and all locals were friendly. Great to escape the crowds.

Somewhat apprehensive before getting to this beach as I heard it was better to look at than to swim in.

However, swimming at this beach is magnificent. That’s when you are in the water. The colour of the water is magical.

However, the pebbles make getting in and out of the water quite difficult, which detracts from the experience.

If found the drive down the steep hill to get to the beach not as bad as has been made out.

Lovely place to stop after a hike with many quant looking restaurants and coffee shops on the waterfront. Free parking also.

Really cute beach. Very relaxing and quiet but still plenty of places to grab some food or a drink. Sunbeds usually available and space for towels. Pebbled beach and the water gets deep quickly but overall a lovely relaxing day.

Beautiful area stunning scenery I have been on this beech three times as before go early by 10 o'clock tip or warning going in to the water is no prob.ha getting out for older people is the waves run at an angle and have a fair bump on the legs as you sink into the gravel I found sitting and sliding up with the waves works although very undignified shorts and elsewhere ? Full of pebbles don't forget to hold on to them when you stand-up oops

Holidaying in koutoulafari, hired a motorbike to explore. Ended up in Mirtos on a very hot afternoon. The place is lovely plenty of amenities, friendly and quiet. Beach is blackish pebbles (better than sand as brushes off easily) so beach shoes or flip flops would be recommended as it gets hot. Sea gets quite deep straight away and waves were quite strong, possibly not perfect for young kids, however kids were playing accompanied by parents. Beautiful beach with some beds and brollies, also some space if you prefer your own towel/mat. Plenty of cafes and eateries also shops to browse.
Lovely visit, away from the crowds around Hersonissos etc.

Okay well it’s a gorgeous pebbly beach with a lovely cave at one end providing some much needed shelter from the stones intensifying the heat (when you’ve got a baby with you) but the drive down was enough to put me off going twice. I value my life and did not enjoy the cliff edge hairpin bends! Fortunately the island is quiet enough that the chance of passing someone is slim so it’s relatively safe (well it was in early June) but I still felt anxious. Don’t let that out you off though as long as you’re with/you are a sensible driver.

Myrtos beach is located in the village of Myrtos some 15 kilometers west of Ierapetra ; it can be easily approached by bus from Ierapetra and the ticket costs about 3 Euro one way ; the bus can be taken near Astron Hotel. You can park on this quiet beach and enjoy refreshments at the beach bar with drinks and refreshments. Top tip take an umbrella or foldable shelter as there is no cover and it is hot. At the time of writing there were no sun loungers to just be prepared. This Beach is a must....
