    Lovely family day out
Took our parents to the Hse & Grds as their Christmas gift. Guided tour of the hse was really knowledgeable. Been several times but first for parents. Coffee shop has a good selection, aswell as the gift shop. Grd is definitely worth a walk, including the Dino section.

    Our visit
Not to bad few up and downs to our visit at Knebworth house 1. It's abit pricey and 2. When we had the tour of the house there was way to many people around 30 which was way to much was very cramped and couldn't hardly see much of the rooms as people was in the way please reduce it to 10 people. 3.the cafe was pricey to but nice and clean but downside again not much of a selection or choice in sandwiches we was told can only have what's on display at the time or the staff was to lazy to make anything. Overall not bad but not good overall 7 outta 10 for our experience there.
Thank you for your review. We're pleased you generally had a good experience but take on board your other comments. We hope to see you again soon.

    Wonderful place, lovely day out.
Really lovely day out with our 1 and 4 year old. For the amount of time you can spend there and the lovely environment it is well worth the money. We were there about 4 hours and saw only a fraction of it. Dinosaur trail was a massive hit, adventure playground is huge, and the staff were so friendly, especially the lady doing the free summer holiday crafts. The only reason it isn't 5 stars is because of the over priced food and drink - be organised and bring a picnic!
Thank you very much for visiting and leaving a review. It sounds like you had a great day out at the Dinosaur Trail and Adventure Playground. We hope to welcome you back again soon.

    Great day out
Lovely day out at Knebworth House and gardens. Very easy to get to, just off the A1M but peaceful once you are in the grounds. The cafe served a good selection of food at quite reasonable prices, especially the salads. I would pop in here for a regular lunch if there was a way to access it without having to pay for entry to the park but I don't think that is achievable due to the extensive driveway through the parkland to reach the cafe. The house was fascinating and such a lot to see. I really enjoyed seeing the exhibition about all the films and TV programmes filmed at Knebworth over the years. It's easy to spot on the screen as this is such a distinctive building. The room stewards and staff at the exhibition and tower were very welcoming and knowledgeable and not too stuffy or condescending like some I've seen in other stately homes. They were friendly and easy to chat to. If its open, don't forget to have a look in the church too, very interesting place.
Thank you so much for leaving us a great review. We are so glad you enjoyed your visit and met some of our lovely members of staff. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

    Highly Recommended!
If you like a stately home you will love Knebworth! Fascinating history, brilliant guided tours, that run every 30 minutes, and gorgeous architecture and beautiful rooms. The house has also been used for rock concerts and film locations.

Lovely day out with plenty to see
Had a wonderful day out today at Knebworth with friends. Visited the house and gardens. Took the tour with Alice Morris, she was great, very well informed, interesting and a very confident speaker, we would give her 10/10. The gardens were lovely, just enough to wander around for an hour or so. The exhibition was very interesting, amazing how many tv shows, movies were filmed there. Watchtower was briefly shut due to rain, but I don’t like heights so wasn’t a problem. Had lunch in the cafe, sausage rolls were yummy, as were the sandwiches, tea and cake after a wander in the garden was a lovely end to the visit. Gift shop had a great variety. Would visit again and recommend

    Lovely Experience
When visiting Knebworth House, I was blown away by the architecture and overall grounds. It is quite unlike anything else I've seen in terms of architecture, blending medieval and Victorian elements. I visited in the early springtime when the weather was nice and mild, while the gardens and greenery were all very well-maintained.

Worth the venue and food not santa.
We had never visited before and wanted to give our 2 daughters who are 3 and 8 an experience they havent had before. I cant fault the venue or the food at all it was very christmasey and warming. The unfourtunate part was santa and his 'so called elf' who looked like he wanted to be elsewhere!! We was waiting for santa who when eventually arrived just walked in with the sound of a tiny bell and said ' if you would like photos after there will be a chance for everyone at the end'!! Basically not worth the whole point of what you actually pay for.

    Ghost and Bat tour
Our family ( ages 17-60) attended the Ghost and Bat tour. The guests were split into smaller groups which had their own tour guide ( we had Gary- very good). We have visited the house before but this felt more intimate, being after the grounds were closed to the general public. Very creepy walking around after dark. The bar tour was very well organised and educational. Each group were provided with sonic “bat detectors” which allowed you to hear the bats as they flew past. Wandering around the grounds in the dark was great fun. Food, excellent cakes and coffee was served- very good. A high staff to guest ratio was good, and all staff were very helpful and clearly enjoy working there. Would highly recommend attending this well organised event in the future.

I exhibited for the first time at this market and I won't be returning. From the moment I arrived to the moment I packed up was issue after issue. A poorly run event where all you get from the organisers is a deal with it attitude

The marquee itself was leaking LOADS of water for two of the three days resulting in many exhibitors stock and displays getting wet. This was even happening in the food marquee with dirty water dripping on the samples all day. Customers looking and asking about your items were constantly being dripped on that eventually they walked away

The one entrance one exit idea was abandoned once the Fire Officer got involved as it was chaos. Once people had walked round once they had to join a massive queue to get back in. Once this was corrected the flow was better and people were able to walk round once and revisit the stalls they like to BUY SOMETHING which is the reason exhibitors had paid over £100 a day to be there

Exhibitors abandoned in the designated parking area stuck in the mud with not a staff member in site. They know the issues with the ground why was there not any measures put in place to stop this happening. Instead we were left to park on hilly ground

There were times it was chaos in the marquee but mostly it was quiet. When you have time to get to know the people around you it's a sign that you are all in the same boat. Not one of us did well or will be returning but I'm sure for every dropout another business decides to give it a try which is why they have so many stalls. What use is thousands of visitors when they have to pay to get in and fork out for overpriced food when inside. It leaves not much left for the hundreds of exhibitors that have paid to be there

There was little choice for people once inside as they obviously accept anyone regardless of how many already sell that type of product. I sell in a very saturated market but I was accepted with only weeks to go before the market to find several sellers around, next to and opposite me selling the same type of product!

I would advise anyone to give this event a miss. There are many free artisan markets and Christmas light switch ons around that are free to attend and have a greater choice of entertainment and better quality stalls than this. There was no music, no decorations and no atmosphere. The only way to save this event is to give it a massive overhaul which is unlikely under the current management

Get your act together Knebworth. Cafe situation is a shambles. I understand seating is limited with Covid but when its wet and cold outside, open your banqueting suite for customers to sit in. Don’t send people with small children to sit in the rain or clustering for shelter by the gift shop. When you’ve just spent £20 on three small sandwiches, crisps and a drink, eating it in the cold and wet isn’t what I’d call an enjoyable experience. I won’t be returning anytime soon. Zero stars for whoever’s organising the Knebworth cafe.

Thank you for leaving a review after your visit. Due to Covid-19 restrictions and guidelines we have had to reduce the seating capacity within the Garden Terrace Tea Room. Unfortunately due to other business within the Barns we are unable to open this for additional Tea Room seating. It is with regret that this option is not available to us but we like all other establishments have to follow the government guidelines and adhere to the restrictions applied to ensure the safety of all visitors to the park. Seating is available within the Tea Room but due to the demand around lunchtime all seating had been taken. We have sheltered picnic areas at the playground, though accept that in this case you may not have wanted to go that far.

The gardens have statues covered and are small when in comparison to castle Ashby etc. The price of the visit was not worth it only 1 slide open, the maze was closed, in the fort lots of red tape and parts broken or kids couldn’t use, swing the kids can sit on not open, limited food choices... feel that for £42 this was an expensive day out to have so much not open!

Thank you for your email and Trip Advisor Comment. I am sorry that you were disappointed with your visit. The Adventure Playground was open with the exception of the two drop slides. We are following government guidelines and to ensure the safety of all on site we are not able to open these as they are enclosed spaces and difficult to clean as often as we would need to. I do apologise regarding the red tape, we had been alerted by staff and public on the Saturday of a broken and unsafe step, so they had been taped off to avoid any accidents. The Maintenance team do not work on a weekend and repairs took place on Monday. April has been an exceptionally cold month so we have not been able to uncover the statues as early as we would normally do due to the risk of them cracking or being damaged in the very cold weather and severe frosts. The Head Gardener is hoping that they will be able to be uncovered from this coming weekend. Regarding the food choices - unfortunately again due to restrictions we are only able to offer a limited takeaway service from our Tea Room, but we did have a selection of sandwiches, paninis, hot sausage rolls, soup and a nice selection of cakes. The Kiosk at the Adventure Playground sells mainly drinks and ice cream but does have toasted sandwiches available. £42 for 4 people we believe is a reasonable price for the offer, there are 250 acres of Parkland for picnics, walks and family enjoyment. 28 acres of Formal Gardens along with a Dinosaur Trail with 72 pre-historic creatures to enjoy and a Wilderness Walk with Willow Huts, Bug Hotels and a Giant's Chair. I am sorry you feel this was not good value.

Visited for a second time this summer; prices have increased since last year for Garden and Dinosaur trail entry, although little else had changed. It was noticeably less busy than last year.

Dinosaur trail is great, lots to see, read and learn. Really pleasant to walk around. Gardens also beautiful.

Took a picnic - these are permitted outside of the gardens. Then headed off to the adventure playground. This is walkable (some distance) from the main house but also has a separate car park, facilities and cafe. Lots of equipment for children of different ages and very enjoyable.

Recommended if you have not visited before; an enjoyable half-day out.

I hadn’t been here since I was a child and decided to bring my own children for my son’s 5th birthday. Well all I can say is wow! Stunning gardens and so many flowers. Vegetable gardens and wood carvings. We went into the house and joined in with the tour, it was very informative and interesting. A staff member came over and offered us a shorter tour as we have 4 young boys who were getting a little restless! They loved their short tour and the guide was so kind and patient. My 9 year old is very interested in history and she asked him lots of age appropriate questions that he could answer. He has adhd and it gave him a real confidence boost.
We went to the cafe twice during our visit and the staff were very helpful. It was very clean and sanitised and lots of social distancing in place.
The dinosaur trail was brilliant and felt like we’d gone for a walk in the forest. The maze was good and the children really enjoyed it.
Afterwards we went to the adventure playground where the children really enjoyed the slides, the same ones I had been on as a child!
The only criticism would be that the playground area didn’t seem hugely safe with a large gap and high drop. A girl was sitting swinging her legs through the gap. There definitely needs to be some extra wood placed there as more of a barrier.
The staff at the playground were very friendly and good with the kids. I could not fault any of them.
Overall a very lovely day. I can see why I always enjoyed it there as a child and we will definitely be back soon!
Thank you.

I had been anticipating visiting Knebworth House for over 20 years. Finally I managed to get there.

The first issue was Google maps took me to the estate office.

The tour was focused in the family history and I would have been more interested in learning more about the building and stories which bought it to life.

The gardener's are clearly dedicated and spoke with enthusiasm about the garden but the garden didn't inspire me.

I feel that it is very much aimed at young families who visit for the play area and dinosaurs, which were clearly very popular.

As a house it was disappointing.

On the positive side I really liked the new watch tower. The stairs are newly built from trees on the estate. The watchtower is definitely one of my highlights.

We have visited Knebworth many times before and always enjoyed it. This was our first venture out on a day trip since the pandemic. We came here in mid-June for my son's birthday. I felt very comfortable with the measures in place. We had to book a time slot, and during our visit (mid-week) the gardens never felt too busy so was very easy to socially distance. The toilets were managed well, with one person/family allowed in at a time and handles seemed to be being sprayed and wiped between each person. There were plenty of staff guiding. Picnics are allowed on the sprawling fields (not inside the beautiful gardens themselves) again - meaning everyone felt very spaced out. I thought some of the dinosaurs looked like they'd had a bit of a spruce up too! We had a lovely day.

Used to love take children to here, not been here for a few years, cannot believe extortionate cost of entry now and then having to pay more for walk around the home, furthermore food provided at the Caffe seems to be more concerned with the woke culture and providing for them. How about people that don’t like sourdough (as only choice of sandwiches) and that are not vegetarians,
what about providing for them as well !!!
And then to top it off , everywhere we went(which was not much) being asked for proof of receipt, (don’t know why!!) as you have to pay for entry of the knebworh home. Don’t go waste of money over £60 for family of 5 just to walk around the dinosaur Trail.

We went to Knebworth House yesterday. We have been before and is a good blow out for the kids. Unfortunately now with covid, everything is pre book. Which for Knebworth House on a rotten torrential day is no fun at all with a 2, 3,5, 8 and 9 year old. We managed to stay a bit longer than we thought we would of but the day was a wash out. When we drove into the park, I did ask the girl in the kiosk, if we could change the date get a refund and re book.
As if I had woken up that morning as was just going to Knebworth House without booking, with 5 children and seen the weather I would of chosen a different day.So for that I feel there should be something in place. To me it was £72, down a very wet drain, very poor customer relations

We booked to attend the Food Festival at Knebworth house yesterday - there was only around 10 food vendors, so hardly enough to call it a Food Festival and I’m sure you can imagine what the queues were like. Considering the size of the venue, there was hardly anything there and we paid nearing on £50 for a family of 4 just to get in. It was forecast to rain all week, and they didn’t add one bit of shelter! We left after 10 mins of being there. Real waste of money!
The grounds are beautiful and it’s normally a great family day out, just it seems not the events they hold.
