You can't take your eyes off the resplendent views from this spot. We have been several times over the past 20 years and it always amazes. Just be aware that there are now sheep and cattle grazing on top at various times of the year. They did not disturb us at all but they are there.

I've hiked to the top of Tugela Falls twice before and honestly it never gets old. The best time to go is during the Summer when there is a lot of rain so that the falls and river below are flowing. SA is currently recovering from a severe drought so the effects are still evident but hopefully by next summer!... More

Not the most popular tourist attraction in South Africa, but it should be up there with the rest. A world heritage site, this was the favourite part of our recent trip to South Africa. Majestic mountains, beautiful views, spectacular nature and wildlife. Just loved every minute of it, even the day it rained and the wind almost blew us away.... More

This is just a must see for all mountain lovers. These are truely majestic mountains. The colours change throughout the day, so the look never gets boring.

This is the most difficult part of getting to the top of the Amphitheatre, but not particularly difficult unless you suffer from a fear of heights! (but why go to the most magnificent view in the world if you are! :-) } The views are stunning and there is a cave that you can stay in once at the top.... More

It's a nice hiking tour and is not that hard to do. And you definitely have to go by the chain ladders. This a nice experience. The views you see on the trip and on the top are breaththaking. So go do this hike and enjoy!

Loved the walking opportunities here, both on top of the berg, and at the bottom of the Amphitheatre in Royal Natal National Park. For me, the walk to the top of Tugela Falls, and to Lion Buttress, were special

Eight hours is the time recommended to allow yourself for this quite challenging walk from Witsiehoek to the top of the Ampitheatre via the rope ladders. The tracks are very rough underfoot with lots of loose stones and small boulders and makes walking hard. It is therefore imperative that correct walking footwear is worn. You will also need adequate drinking... More

One of the best day hikes to the top of the Drakensberg. Steep hike with rewarding views. We took a day hike up to the base of the Sentinel with our 4 year old son. It took a while but he made it and we all loved the experience. This is a must do, just pack plently of water and... More

The hike up the Sentinel is truly beautiful and not too strenuous. I did it with my 70-something year old parents, who managed just fine. The view of the Amphitheater at the top makes it absolutely worth the effort. it is simply breathtaking and beautiful when there are no mist and clouds. It is wonderful to have a picnic at... More
