A very friendly welcome on arrival at Owlcatraz today This continued with a great explanation of the tours and surounding area We took the one and a half hour tour which was really great and even as an adult I totally enjoyed the leasurely stroll through the bush areas finding the frog on a log etc all hidden for us... We decided to visit owlcatraz as we did when I was younger and it was great. This time not so much ! The staff were all very lovely but the whole experience dragged on for a lot longer than we feel it needed to . We had my grandparents with us who aren't too great on their feet and the... More

The Owlcatraz farm is full of different animals, who are very friendly. I think that is good for kids, but even myself had a really nice time patting the donkeys and lamas. The owls usually sleep during the day, so you can see them just sitting around and not moving. Almost like these dead bird models in museums. The best... More

The owl/ruru enclosure was large & interesting, nice to be close to the birds. It wasn't as good as I expected. Tho it is kind they made the enclosure circular so the owls can circle & not have to keep stopping at corners. The glowworms cave was a breathtkaing experience & well worth the visit alone. The guide was a... More

Very friendly and informative staff. Glow-worm cave was great - Don was an excellent guide. The kids love their 'pokehimons' :-)

We visited Owlcatraz all the way from Wellington in the school holidays and although warmly welcomed and quickly put on a tour, it was rushed and the young lad who took the tour seemed bored and disinterested rushing us through the park. The concept is great and when we finally reached the owlhouse after observing some ramshackle weka enclosures and... More

We visited with hope, though the name should have given it away. First stop the small animal enclosure where your first meeting was with what was clearly a deeply depressed miniature horse in a tiny bare enclosure. It got worse with rabbits encaged on boards with no space to run about. We were all deeply upset by the ramshackle nature... More

Having driven past numerous times we felt it was time to visit. Not expecting a great deal making a false assumption that because it was off the beaten track it wouldn't be more than a hobbyist display. However to much surprise it was a great labour of love of the owners and staff who clearly look after the animals in... More

We were greeted by friendly staff and had informative guides on our tour of the park. Great to see Owls in their natural habitat. All the animals were well cared for and a lovely place to visit.

We had heard about Owlcatraz from one of our friends and had been planning a visit for some time. Finally this summer we managed to come here and it was well worth the wait ! The staff here are very friendly and knowledgeable. They are quite flexible with the packages based on what you want to specifically see in the... More
