- T-SGlobetrottersPreston, United Kingdom3,650 contributionsA good hike and end destinationWe drove to Nderlysaj which is reached by road turning right avoiding the bridge that crosses the river to Theth. After about 20 minutes the road runs out and here there is a large car park (free). From here it is a one hour hike to reach the Blue Eye. A couple of things to note. Firstly don't be fooled by thinking you have reached your destination just after the Blue Eye snack bar. It is another 5 to 10 minutes hike after reaching the first river bank. Cross over the bridge and head past another snack bar walking over some interesting rock formations before picking up a path leading to Blue Eye. Secondly, it is quite different from the attraction of the same name in the south of Albania. There the water bubbles up from an underground cavern. Here it is fed by a waterfall. The location feels much more remote than in the south by virtue of its location but it follows the same pattern of crystal clear water varying in colour from deep to aquamarine blue. All very attractive and it can be seen from a number of viewpoints. Some confidence is needed to explore the immediate area as access across the stream is on wooden planks.Visited September 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 1, 2023
- ianx17489Inverurie, United Kingdom962 contributionsWell worth the effort, pleasant trail, stunning views along the wayWe shared a taxi from Theth to the start of the walk. Being October the path was not too busy and relatively easy. There is a pop-up drinks cafe along the route. After about 45 minutes you reach a bridge over the water, which us very pleasant but don't be fooled... the blue eye pool is a further five minutes on... well worth the trek. We met some hikers who had hiked from Theth to the Blue Eye and the back to Theth, five or six hour round trip.... we walked back to Theth along the trail which was very enjoyable. Highly recommended.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 11, 2023
- Barbs25Staffordshire, United Kingdom3,690 contributionsNice placeSadly didn’t make it all the way as we were losing light but would recommend it from what we saw. You can walk here from theth which is apparently 3hrs each way roughly or you can park on the free car park which is about 20 min drive from bottom of theth town and the road is paved all the way so an easy drive. If you don’t have a car there are tours to take you to this point. From the car park it’s about 1hr to the blue eye and falls. We enjoyed the area around the car park, couple nice places to eat and the gorge is amazing. There’s a rickety old bridge across it too which is cool but maybe needs some repair! If you walk behind the bridge, the rocks are amazing where the water has carved through. Really cool to see this time of year while the water is low. From what we did it’s an easy trail to follow and not particularly challenging.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 24, 2023
- NeatsjrCleobury Mortimer, United Kingdom41 contributionsA stunning viewWe had a short stay on Theth so opted to walk from the next village Nderlysaj, which was a short drive. The walk took about 40 minutes each way and the path is clearly defined. .you come to a river first so make sure you cross the bridge and continue to the Lagoon. The blue eye lagoon is well worth a walk too and exceeded our expectation. We arrived early so very few people there but met a lot on our walk back.Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 1, 2024

- Joc101 contributionsStunning natural beautyThe Blue Eye is a must-see if you're staying near to Theth. Taxi transfers to and from the carpark close to the Eye are frequent during the day, and cost approximately €5. You can also hike from Theth (which is what we did). There are two paths: one along the main road and one on the other side of the river, which is more scenic: you will pass the Theth waterfall via that route. Walking from Theth will take around 2 hours. From the free carpark it is a short hike (45 mins to an hour) to the Blue Eye. There is some tree coverage but you may be quite hot if you are visiting in the height of summer, so do take water with you. There are a couple of small cafes/booths on the route nearer to the end. The path has some steep inclines but is fairly easy to navigate. You will reach a bridge across a stream before you reach the Eye itself. The lagoon is another 5 minutes over the bridge and to the right. When you reach the Eye, take a dip in (if you don't mind cold water!) It is very refreshing. There is are some stairs up the rock face to a small cafe overlooking the Eye, where you can get a beautiful view.Visited July 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 22, 2024
- DomStratford-upon-Avon, United Kingdom323 contributionsWorth getting up early forFollow the excellent advice from the previous post by 'Joc'. Just go early! We started walking at 8am on a Monday in August. It was 22c. We got to Blue eye 45 mins later. There were only about 10 of us there in total. When we left at 10:30 I counted 50 people. Already too many. On our walk back we passed over 100 people walking up. Blue eye is amazing but so much more with fewer people, early morning light and a bearable temperature. I wouldn't want to be there with 100 people and 34c. Get up early - it's worth it!Visited August 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten August 12, 2024

From Theth if you do not take a Taxi it is about 1.30 hour spectacular walk around the river to reach Nderlysaj where you can have some refreshment and swim in the pools before you head off to around 45 min hike to Blue eye. On the way there are two kiosk selling drinks. You can already swim in crystal clear but freezing water before you get to Blue Eye. When you reach the Blue Eye forgot about peacefulness as this was really busy place. If you can try to come early morning or late afternoon to enjoy serenity and turquoise water. The best how to reach blue Eye is to cross the bridge when you see it from the path and go towards old farm house to pass another small bridge from which you can take nice pictures of the lagoon and reach small restaurant where you find the stairs going down.

Incredible place. Go before spoiled. Hard hike up. Take paved road all way to Nderlysaj. Park by river. Hike up path on right of river looking upstream. After 300 yards or so, look at great waterfall/ formations on left. Walk down to storage rocks and lip of fall. Then continue up Valley. Flattish at first then steep. After 50ish minutes you climb over pass. After that it goes down hill. Find confusing sign to blue hole, go left, downhill. You reach first swim hole. Go over bridge. Keep going on path to right, Pass nice farm house go down to blue hole. Swim.

When you visit Theth dor sure you have to go and visit the Blue Eye. It is reached by foot because you have to climb the mountain. It is easy to reach the eye and the road that brings you there is breathless. You can swim inside the blue eye.
