Traveling in the middle of nowhere: no trees, no towns, no people.
We have been driving from Sydney to Perth and this road is spectacular.
Most likely there are just a couple of countries in the world where you can drive safely in the desert.
We saw also the wild camels.
Stunning

Drove from Adelaide to Perth in two days. Averaged about 80mph the entire way. Saw pink lakes, the 12 apostles, the worlds longest straight road, Neighbourhood watch signs (?) and some of the most desolate places on earth.

The Nullarbor national Park starts about 400km west of Ceduna in South Australia and finishes at the SA - WA border. A great drive with spectacular views of the Great Australian Bight which can be accessed from numerous viewing spots as well as free wheeling off road, but be careful you don't drive off the cliffs.

We had a number of free camps with fires in our fire pit with camp oven meals. The best spots were the 10 km peg and 52 km peg. These were right on the cliff and we saw southern right whales at both. Highly recommend and we ticked off a lot on our bucket list.

The Nullarbor National Park is one of Australia's best kept secrets. Many travel the road, but few take the time to appreciate the vastness and beauty of this National Park. The history itself is worth the effort.

Have crossed the Nullarbor regularly past 12 yrs.
Dont be put off by folks describing it as boring and lifeless.Experience this journey yourself and experience the awe of nature and the expanse yourself.
With some luck the cliffs and whales in the Bight will captivate you and remain a lifetime memory.
Just "do it"- the road is excellent of highway standard and food / fuel not a problem at the Roadhouse.
Camp out or use the roadside areas or the caravan park at the roadhouse.
We will be crossing again soon.

Not your normal idea of a NP with next to no vegetation, limited wildlife & definitely no trees ! But still awe inspiring in its breadth and the views from the towering cliff tops is humbling. In season you get the added bonus of Whales and the further west you go you can get access to the waterline. Very glad to have visited & fondly remembered !

It's surprising how many people travel the highway (expect a car every few minutes), so it's not that remote anymore, but it's still a spectacular area. The Nullarbor indeed has nothing more than a few feet high and the flatness stretches off in all directions. I got lucky with some dramatic rain, which doesn't seem common. Make sure to turn off to see the Bunda Cliffs (there are several proper viewing points) and also the beach at Eucla just next to the Nullarbor. Roadhouses are a couple of hundred kms apart and have very expensive petrol and food. The Nullarbor Roadhouse is the pick of them though, with quite good meals.

Driving through the Nullarbor is a long journey that needs proper planning. In total it is 1200km of which the park is only a proportion. Take enough fresh drinking water. Make sure you plan well re fuel as we were unpleasantly surprised to find the fuel station at Penong closed for renovations. Great views of the bight from the official stops. Check the wind direction and strength if you are towing.
