About Andros Routes
We are a group of people that love this island although not all of us were born here. We live, study, walk, swim and research constantly realizing how valuable this island’s nature and culture is. This is how an idea is born to combine research and actions-creative and entertaining- recognizing that tourism may benefit a place if developed in a proper scale and managed accordingly… Andros paths

Andros is very hilly and windy!! If it wasn’t for the wind lowering the temperature we wouldn’t have managed the walks - lots of steps and varied rough ground. Routes well marked and easy to follow, really enjoyed doing a few on our holiday.

We went with UTracks. All the routes were well signposted and interesting. It was a great way to get to know a new island. Tracks were of a variable quality with some of the ones closest to towns suffering from poor maintenance.

Great walks! Amazing view. Most of the routs are well marked. They are suited to people of different walking skills from basic to advanced....:) Some of the trails go through plenty of strawberry trees, fig trees and grapes. If you walk for few hours and your muscles hurt.... and you are near Gavrio- go have a great relaxing massage with Dora. She does good massage and reflexology and she also makes soaps, oil and cream from natural ingredients. Her shop is on the Main Street in Gavrio, in a little ally in the center. Really worth while. Her tel no is: 2282072328. - Welles’s center and herbal Cosmetics. Don’t miss it!

We went on our first walking trip abroad as we had read great reviews about the work done on opening up the old network of paths on Andros. And it didn't disappoint, very pleased we made the trip. The Andros Route map is good as a guide, but not as good at the detail as UK OS maps. What is excellent is the work local volunteers have done on the sign posting - way better than anything in UK. It is difficult to get lost, and if you accidentally stray you soon realise as no more signs - walk bak a little way and you find you missed one. The team have done a great job.

We bought the Andros walking map, expecting to have to use it for navigation, but once we’d found the start of route 2 from the chora to the waterfalls, the signposts were easy to follow along lovely off-road, well-maintained trails. Highly recommended, and we look forward to trying the other trails on future trips to Andros.
