Worth checking out

This place opened up just for us, as we couldn’t get there during opening hours. Lots of art work, paintings etc, and crafts such as scarves, hats, postcards... the lady who opened up was lovely. The only grizzle we might have had was finding the place, there was no signage telling us where the building was, and even when we got there we had no idea that we were at the right building and had to ask someone. Currie council needs to improve its signs for poor tourists who have no idea where to find the things advertised to visit.

Some interesting art

Local art pieces, furniture, pottery and souvenirs (tea towels etc).
Saturday and Sunday there’s a coffee van serving excellent coffee - a magnet for locals the day we visited.

excellent history of King Island
Nov 2019
this is a great place to visit, you can spend 5 minutes or 2 hours, depending if u like History and learn all about King Island. The historical facts about the place and the rugged coastline plus shipwrecks is great reading

A lovely suprise

It was lovely to see various artists work. I was lucky enough to be given a lovely scarf as a gift which was purchased at the Centre. I will treasure it as a lovely memento from the Island.

No sure what we expected. It didn't really do it for us. Prices of craft work, art work and other items where very high.

Great local Artistic Material on Display.
May 2018 • Couples
This place showcases the art of local King Island artists and the quality and standard of the works and the exhibits is very high.

We arrived 15 minutes before closing but were still given a warm welcome and allowed plenty of time to explore !

Highly recommended !

King island culture centre is located at the harbour so it’s pretty easy to find. The centre has interesting local art on display & other crafts. A great place to visit to get the local feel & appreciation of the island.

A great showcase of local talent

When travelling, I always seek out little gems like this Cultural Centre. Several rooms filled with assorted art and craft by local talent at good prices. I picked up a lovely hand-printed silk scarf for $63. Definitely worrh a visit.

The best of King Islands Arts and Crafts
Jul 2016 • Couples
The King Island Cultural Centre appears to be King Island's hub for their creative residents.
You can see work-in-progress, classes and items completed for sale.
There are a couple of exhibition rooms too.
The centre needs donations to help keep them running, so if you visit it, please give generously.
Right next to Currie Harbour, they are across the road from the Crayfish processors and a Mens Shed.
Next door is Heidi's Isle Inspired that can get you the beautiful King Island Beef or Crayfish.
