Nicaragua has undergone some political turmoil this year which has significantly hurt the tourism industry....this means some of the hotels and restaurants may or may not be open...but it is still as beautiful as ever and the Nicaraguan people are wonderful.

We stayed at a hotel nearby (Jiquilite beach) and Popoyo was a short walk from there. The whole area was one of the cleanest and best kept that I have ever been to in the area. The sunset from the beach or the restaurant on...More

Enjoyed the sights and sounds of this beach. Kids, adults, and the elderly of the city unit. This was an experience.

All along the Emerald Coast there are amazing beaches and beautiful hotels, hostels and high-end resorts. There is truly something for everyone. The beaches are quiet and the water is warm. And watching the surfers is exciting

Almost empty and unspoiled. We walked it for hours just to meet 10 people along the way. Great waves for surfing lessons! A bit demanding in the afternoons

Great surf beach, the right side is great for surfing at low tide & the left end is better at high tide. Very quiet in the middle of the beach. Surf can be busy, especially at the right end.
