Built in the 19th century the avenue and park are lined with ancient trees, statues and have great views at one end, overlooking the mountains far away. A nice place for sunsets.
The Alameda del Tajo was previously known as Alameda de San Carlos and located next to the cliffs of Ronda canyon El Tajo. Located within the park is the Monumento a la Dama Goyesca (Monument of the Goyaesque Lady), a full-scale figure of a woman dressed in the traditional costume of Ronda.

This popular park provided a welcome respite from the unseasonable heat, with plenty of shaded seats. We found the section of the park north of the bullring to be more peaceful and less crowded, despite the excellent views and tree canopy. Worth a visit!

It was lovely to walk around this area and the view was magnificent. It was a rather chilly day in Ronda but it was also rather sunny as well. Everyone in our group have had an excellent time, i think, with our excellent local guide who speaks 4 languages. Recommended👍👍👍

This park is very green. A nice walk that starts from the church of Nuestra Senora de la Merced to Pont Neuf. The view of the plains below is splendid. Some beautiful photos from this unmissable site. On the downside, many groups of tourists not very educated.

Just behind the Plaza de Toros in the New Town is the lovely little 19th century park, the Alameda del Tajo. This charming park is laid out with five avenues lined with trees leading to the cliff edge with its staggering views. My wife and I found it breathtaking and mesmerising in the extreme.

Just behind the bullring or a short walk from the bridge past the Parador.
Nice peaceful park, fountains and formal gardens, artists setting up stands.
Lots of cats, if you are a cat lover! Toilets open sometimes.
But the view is superb!
Worth a walk to see if you are in town.

The park and gardens were on our way as we walked towards the new bridge. The gardens and paths are mainly tree lined with low lying shrubs and a pleasant walk through as you head towards the balcony area overlooking the valley below - it’s certainly a spectacular view and well worth a visit

.
There are four major attractions to this lovely, typically Spanish, park right in the centre of Ronda.
Firstly, the wonderful, shady, greenery. Palms and all sorts of beautiful trees and shrubs with benches to sit and contemplate as you listen to the fountains.
Then there is a small aviary with ducks etc. for the children to coo over, as well as the children's playground at the end.
And then there is the view. Or rather: The View.
The View.
To appreciate The View in all its glory, you need to step out onto one of the little "miradores" - the viewpoints at the very end. Most people, even those with vertigo, feel fairly confident in doing this, as they have waist-height railings.
Until they realise . . .
Until they realise that most of them are just suspended over the void, with nothing underneath them.
:-)
All depend how much faith you have in Spanish civil engineering and builders.
But this is a MUST photo opportunity.
In front of you a magnificent range of mountains; in winter you may even see a little snow sparkling on the top. If you peer down, you will see below the beautiful Vega of Ronda, the fertile plain, with a pretty winding country road. If you read my review of the Puente Nuevo bridge, there are instructions for a lovely walk down there, out in the countryside, seeing an altogether different face of Ronda.
When you have taken your fill of the view (or have been overtaken by vertigo), turn towards the left and start walking. You go in front of an amazingly ugly public auditorium and then take a little alleyway bordered by small trees, each with a plaque below.
Peer down and read them: they say something like this:"We were both born in May 1997". Families bought the tree to commemorate the birth of a child - sweet.
If you continue down the path you will come to the bullring, the Parador, and the Puente Nuevo.
Good views from there too, but nothing like what you get from the miradores in the Alameda del Tajo.

The park is close to the Plaza de Toros and also has a viewing platform which offers some great views of the surrounding countryside.

We were staying opposite bullring so we entered park from down the side of it....what a breathtaking view ! You can see for miles ....they also do BASE jumping off the cliffs here which was on in June . Ronda is a beautiful place and someday I hope to return and explore it more as we only stayed for one night .

Que signifie les prénoms accompagnés des dates de naissance inscrits au pieds de arbres lorsque l'on rentre dans le parc par le passage vers l'arène ?

Why was the bandstand area fenced off yesterday? The fencing & gate looks very permanent. What a shame!
Written October 27, 2017
Gill: Did you get photos of the fencing? Given the area is in a seismic zone, a minor earthquake may have caused a crack that precipitate calving of rock face.
