As we drove into southern Spain from Portugal the plains became hilly and on the approach to our destination of Ronda, there appeared an enormous gorge. We made our way up to the top of the gorge and were rewarded with a full view of...More

While staying in the Parador we walked east of the new bridge to see the two older bridges to the east. We returned by walking through the lovely, clean and friendly neighborhood of La Ciudad.

This area is roughly the same as what is called The Old City. It encompasses many of the oldest structures as well as the principal church and several parks. It is a beautiful place to walk and take in the sights.

The old town is just lovely despite the inevitable growth of fast food outlets which look terribly out of place. Great atmosphere, particularly around sunset, and lovely to wander around the streets

In Spanish, “la ciudad” means “the city.” Or in this case, a quaint village of about 35,000. For the purposes of a TripAdvisor review, La Ciudad is ambiguous. TA has a designated attraction called “Old City” but with two bridges connecting the compact cityscape, what’s...More

Drama is what this part of Spain offers. Drama in the spectacular drop below our hotel room and those dark angular mountains and the fabulous vista entering the town. It's literally built on a ridge of the sierra with a gorge spanned by a eye-catching...More

There were 11 of us traveling as a family group. We simply explored on our own and had a wonderful experience. Perhaps, you can ask in town; try a local restaurant or hotel, once you get there?

Yes! I recommend calling the ticket office before to set that up. Also one can just pay the extra amount at the ticket office for a private or group guided tour. Just arrive as early as possible! Have a fab time.
