We highly highlight the professionalism and speed with which Alberto the Manager answered all our questions and of course his help in planning our trip. The Salkantay Trek itself was an awe-inspiring journey that took us through some of the most diverse and breathtaking landscapes we have ever encountered. From the snow-capped peaks of the Andes to the lush, vibrant valleys, each day brought a new panorama that left us in constant wonder. Also the passion of our guide Raul, who is a great profesional in what he does, he was highly informative of life in the Andes and the Inca culture. In the and he became friend and motivator, making the trek feel like an intimate exploration with like-minded adventurers. In addition to our guide, there were 2 other guys who made this whole hike possible, we are referring to Timoteo our cook and Carlos our muleteer, who took care of all the logistic that make this trek possible, Timiteo with his delicious food and plenty of it and Carlos transporting all the equipment from one camp to another, Bravo guys. We can wholeheartedly recommend Local Trekkers Peru to anyone seeking an unforgettable Salkantay Trek experience. Their passion, expertise, and personalized approach make them stand out among tour agencies. Thank you, guys, for creating memories that will last a lifetime and for showing us the true beauty and magic of the Andes.Visited October 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 6, 2023
- Anabel D1 contributionSalkantay with Local Trekkers Peru is 100% worth it!!!My boyfriend and I did the 5days Salkantay Trek with Local Trekkers Peru and it was the best decision ever! We can totally recommend this agency, they will do everything to make it an unforgettable experience for you. Thank you so much! Since my boyfriend did the Salkantay trek already 5years ago and had a great time with LOCAL TREKEKRS PERU, he wanted to go with them once again and show me the trek. Since it was end of the season, we got a private. Our guide Robert was very competent, helpful and funny. We had a great time together and it was a pleasure sharing this trip with him. Thanks for all the interesting and entertaining talks you shared with us! You were the perfect guide and companion. Our kitchen team was the chef Paulino wow! Every dish was a real pleasure, very tasty and made with love. They made Coffee every morning, since my boyfriend likes it so much and even baked a farewell cake for us. Great team! Local Trekkers Peru. All in all we are very greatful for this amazing 5day. The team we had and how much they invested to make it an unforgettable and nice experience for us! Everyone did their best, was extremely friendly and attentive. Keep going like that, it was a big pleasure being on this adventure together.Visited January 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten January 31, 2024
- ANGELINE1 contributionExcellent trek thanks to TERRA QUECHUA PERUWe did the Salkantay trek and we were very lucky because the day was exceptional, and also, having gone in the rainy season (late March 2024), there were not too many people. Thanks to Terra Quechua Peru, we successfully completed this trek and enjoyed it very much. They organized everything for us: from transportation, accommodations, meals, etc., the hotel on the last day in Aguas Calientes was great, the guide, very well prepared, made us complete the tour without rushing, telling us everything we needed to know about the Inca civilization. We're very satisfied with the service provided by the agency, I'm giving my opinion to recommend it to other people who would also like to do this fantastic adventure.Visited April 2024Traveled with friendsWritten April 26, 2024
- Angeline T.P1 contributionFantastic and absolutely recommended if you like the mountainsThe Salkantay trekking in tents exceeded my expectations. We did this trek with Terra Quechua Peru, they offer a very interesting tour both for the price and the service. Being able to sleep in tents in the middle of the mountains and a warm bed is satisfying, the landscapes are tremendous, the places we went to were quite extreme, high, the pictures we took are sensational, we had a very clear day during the trek which made the landscapes look beautiful.Overall, I had one of the best trekking experiences of my life. Thanks to Terra Quechua Peru, it's amazing!Visited July 2024Traveled with friendsWritten July 9, 2024
- ANDY JOEL C1 contributionThis tour is perfect for nature and adventure loversExplore Peru with Terra Quechua and live the best adventure of your life. From the moment we booked with this agency, we knew we were in good hands. Their organization was impeccable, and the guide who accompanied us during the trek was a true expert on Inca culture. We loved how the itinerary was planned so that we could enjoy the best views of the Salkantay. Each day brought with it a new surprise, from the challenging hikes to the quiet nights under the stars. The mountains, the crystal clear lagoons and the diversity of ecosystems we traversed were incredible. In the end, the arrival at Machu Picchu was the icing on the cake, a moment we will never forget.Visited September 2024Traveled with friendsWritten September 1, 2024

My friends and I booked the Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu tour for 5 days and 4 nights and we had an incredible experience with Terra Quechua Peru, their performance was excellent from their owners to all their staff. We all fall in love with the beauties that are seen in Peru They are 100% recommended if you travel to Peru you will not regret hiring the services of Terra Quechua Peru, apart from the fact that they are very friendly with people and do their job very well, know a lot about the topic.
This trek in my opinion was one of the best ways to get to Machu Picchu. Groups are usually kept small like 8 people, but when I went it was just my friends. We had our own private tour with our own cook, guide, and horseman. The food on this tour was fantastic with lots of different local flavors to try at each meal. Our guide was very knowledgeable and told us a lot about the Inca history and beliefs. Even with more people I would have had a great time on this tour, but it was great to have a private service with the Terra Quechua Peru agency

We did the Salkantay Trek 5 days 4 nights with Local Trekkers Peru and this was an excellent trip and it was customized to our exact needs.
I sent many emails to Alberto the manager and his answers were quickly, the Price he gave us was a very good Price as well.´
In Cusco we met Alberto in the Local Trekkers office and he was very friendly, answering all our last doubts, and we paid the balance of our Trek Price there.
One day before our Trek start we met Ruben our guide who was very kind and friendly too, the Trek was quite easy, it was just the second day until to the Salkantay Pass which was the hardest day during whole Trek, to everybody, take your measure for the height for this day we start walking up around 3,800 masl until to the Salkantay pass which is 4,630 masl, after this part the rest of the Trek it’s supposed to be easier, but going down sometimes it hurts the knees so i recommend to use walking poles that helps a lot.
Our guide Ruben was very professional and geniune, very knowledgeable, we learned a lot about many things around Cusco área, Incas Culture, Andean life, he was the best guide we could have hoped for. We can’t recommend him Highly enough.
About the food was the best of the bes our chef was Paulino and we don’t know how he was able to prepare great variety of dishes every single day what is worse or better all dishes was served in a buffet style, very well decorated, it was by far the best food we tried in Peru.
We were 6 in the group me and a friend and 4 people. A big thanks to the Local Trekkers Peru team to do this Adventure Unforgettable.
If you want to do the Salkantay Trek don’t hesitate and book with Local Trekkers Peru you won’t Regret.

Jose, probably the most fun guide we had during our time in SA, helped to make those days unforgettable. Great team behind exploor, they really know how hiking is done while keeping the group entertained. Because, the trek is tough, let me tell you. 4 days of hiking. Up, down, the first 2 days are the most complicated. Impressive, I wouldn't say, because every day throughout the 5 days with Machu Picchu were different with views and things shared by Jose. Machu Picchu of course, our one and only, the highlight and reward. Susana and I are happy we did this trek and mastered it - mission as couple complete. We've never been that high, Jose told us that plenty are like us, so keep going, it's beautiful and you'll be in good hands. The donkeys were helpful in carrying all our stuff, without them we would have been lost, true fact. Also my respect to the chef, what they created was day by day another variety of food. The Salkantay has been good to us too, Jose told us, that last time the group was only able to see the mountain when hiking down, we saw it when being right there. Maybe we'll do another similar hike this year.

Me and my best friend, had an amazing experience with the Team of Salkantay Trekking.
We had a great guide, that was professional, and super friendly as well. Also the hole team that carried our luggage in horses, set the camping tents and cooked us authentic and flavorful Peruvian meals, made the hole adventure an unforgettable experience.
Without a doubt we will come back.
Cheers! 😉

The Salkantay Trek is not a trip, nor a simple trekking, it is a unique and unforgettable experience in which you connect with nature and with yourself, discovering the Andean culture and magical places. To live this experience well, it is very important to choose an agency that provides you with a prepared guide, good equipment, healthy and energetic food. Me and my 8 friends have found all this with Local Trekkers Peru. Our super Guide Carlos, very professional, attentive, prepared, capable of measuring things well in each circumstance, generous in sharing his knowledge, far beyond explaining data and information. With him you can really get to know the Andean culture through stories and popular legends, learning customs and traditions. Thanks to the best cook Aurelio, he was able to prepare the best food I have ever tasted, delicious food, abundant, varied, well cooked and well presented. But Aurelio doesn't do everything, he only has a super super helper: thanks, Marcos our horseman who was very helpful along the trek. I recommend Local Trekkers Peru 100%!!!

We did the 5 day trek with Terra Quechua Peru and loved it, they are a great agency and I highly recommend doing this trek with them. All services offered were as described and the food provided by Chef Antonio was excellent and very varied.
This trek should not be taken lightly and you need to be well trained as it's physically demanding. We were fortunate to meet Fernando, our guide, who was exceptional. A very friendly person with a great knowledge of the Salkantay route and the culture of the Andes.
In general, all the staff that accompanied us on this adventure deserves a 10. Congratulations TERRA QUECHUA PERU!.

Our family has been last month in Perú. Cusco was our first stop, Terra Quechua Perú it is the best hiking company. The local guides were very professional and passionate about sharing everything during our trek, also we had a coffee tour and we tried a hot coffee. in Our group we had a guide, a cook, and a horseman with 4 horses to carry our camping gear and food. Every meal was hot cooked, in tent and delicious. No crowds, private campsites along the trail, surrounded by waterfalls, snow capped mountains, etc.
Finally we had Machupicchu it was clear and sunny.
We would recommend them to all my friends and family.

The Salkantay Trek to Machu Pichu with Terra Quechua Peru was an incredible experience. One of the reasons we chose the company was because of the good comments they have. They deserve much but much more, they really give everything. They were very well organized from start to finish and thought of every need. The welcome, of the people who receive you in the lodgings (Domes), at that height, they are always with a smile and a hot tea...Excellent!!! Thank you very much!!! The Domes where we were hosted are a real pleasure, very comfortable with private bathroom and hot shower. Our guide Erick Solis was extremely supportive and helped solve our problems and told us many stories along the way, all the staff working with this company is very nice.
The experience was unforgettable Terra Quechua Peru does responsible and quality work.

Ciao !
Grazie mille :)

Good day Finding_nemo_nz or anyone who has trekked the Salkantay Trail independently this year.
I am heading there to do an independent Salkantay and Santa Cruz trek in September. If you would not mind I would like to ask you some questions.
1) What did you use for footwear? I was thinking of trail runners that like I have used on the PCT and the Colorado Trail.
2) I was going to rent a stove instead of bring my JetBoil (canister stove) Where did you rent from?
Written July 14, 2019
I used inov8 trail running shoes and everything was fine... but thank god it did not rain...if it rains it might be a bit slippery but its your call...
One thing is for sure make sure you wear good quality socks
Regards

Me and my girlfriend are planning a trip in beginning of November (Start 5th-7th)? On some websites it is mentioned that despite rainy season it is still quite nice in the beginning. Does anybody have any experience doing the salkantay trail in that time?

Written May 19, 2018
Saludos
