    Best Huayhuash Company HANDS DOWN!!
Los Amigos De Huayhuash was hands down the best company to do this trek with. They are worth every penny and more. I cannot recommend them enough. The whole family is incredible and will make you feel at home, take care of you, and give you the absolute best experience you could ever hope for. I stayed with Animine and Wilder before our trek and they helped me with all the acclimatization treks, had incredibly comfy beds, and delicious breakfast. They felt like family immediately. They helped me with getting gear in town, places to eat, etc. I couldnt have survived this trek and enjoyed it as much as I did without them. Alec the donkey driver, Daisy our cook, and Adolfo our guide were amazing. The food was incredible and you never went hungry. If you are planning on doing this trek DO NOT do it with any other company. You will not have even close to as good of an experience. They are passionate about what they do, incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, funny, and truly some of the best people I have met.

Awesome Family Trekking Company and Absolutely Stunning Trek
Los Amigos de Huayhuash are a wonderful family business! They were wonderful to work with. Anamin was so helpful to us. My husband and I got COVID the day before we were supposed to leave for the trek and Los Amigos was able to move our dates at the last minute so we were able to recover for a few days. The trek is amazing. Anamin has accomodation at her house, which looked lovely also. Travel with them and you are supporting a local family and community and will not regret it. DON Crispin was our cook and was excellent. Abner was our guide and Alec our muleteer.

outstanding company (Los Amigos de Huayhuash) and experience
I was part of the group of 7 friends mentioned in FarAway’s review of 28th May. I found Los Amigos de Huayhuash truly outstanding in every possible respect. The whole team worked relentlessly hard to look after us and to make sure we enjoyed the experience to the utmost – I would thoroughly recommend them to everyone contemplating the Huayhuash trail. Anamin, at base in Huaraz, is an excellent communicator and nothing was too much trouble. Our amazing guide on the trek was Adolfo. He made sure to get to know us all individually as quickly as possible so the pace could be tailored accordingly. He speaks excellent English and has a great sense of humour - essential at times! As a group of 60-somethings we had a few altitude-related health issues along the way and Adolfo’s approach was very calm, careful and highly responsible. We felt completely confident in his judgement and actions. Likewise the rest of the team including siblings Adam, Alec, Abner and others were so friendly and always helpful, from getting our tents up in the pouring rain to expertly transporting our kit to each campsite. I was the awkward person in the group who needed to leave the trek a couple of days early. I thought the plan of descending the mountain with Abner (plus mule) from Gashpapampa to meet a vehicle at the end of a remote road to take me back to Lima had every potential to go wrong – in fact it worked absolutely smoothly. We could not believe the quality (and quantity) of the food cook Jaime and team created for us, from breakfast porridge and eggs to fresh trout and ossobuco, and even a delicious quinoa lunch on top of a very high ridge. It came complete with regular infusions of hot drinks and sustaining snacks. The trek itself is an unforgettable experience. The landscapes are immense and the sense of space, remoteness and sheer beauty like nothing I’ve ever experienced. Being early in the season we were the only people in the campsite on quite a few nights and could walk for hours without meeting any other groups. It was a very special experience indeed which I would not have missed for anything. Thank you to everyone at Los Amigos de Huayhuash for giving us such a wonderful time – you are very special people.

Los Amigos De Huayhuash first rate!
We just returned from a fantastic 8 day trek of the Cordillera Huayhuash circuit with Los Amigos De Huayhuash. Every aspect of the trip was exceptional, Wilder, our guide, Jovanni our cook (amazing food, prepared perfectly) and Abner, our donkey handler all proved to be terrific traveling companions. From the very beginning, Anamin instilled confidence and ensured every detail was carefully attended to. I cannot imagine a better guide or crew to guide someone through this amazing terrain. While this was our first time to the Huayhuash, and have not experienced other guides, if we return, and we likely will, we will definitely go with Los Amigos De Huayhuash. Can't imagine a better outfit. Tim G. Berkeley, CA

Trekking, new friends, and adventure with Los Amigos de Huayhuash
Spoiled! That's how we felt the entire time we were trekking Huayhuash with Los Amigos de Huayhuash. Before we even began our trek, Anamin helped plan acclimation hikes to make hiking the circuit as smooth as possible (not easy when you're going up near 17k ft!) If you can, I recommend staying at their place, it was perfect and the local knowledge around Huaraz made our stay stress free. They were able to arrange taxi service to and from our acclimation hikes, answer any questions about Huaraz, and even provided breakfast! We are not normally the type to hire guides, cooks, etc. so this was a new experience for us, but a great one! Each morning began with coffee presented to you in the warmth of your tent. Next, breakfast was prepared in the warmth of the base camp tent. Each morning was a different meal and all were WARM and delicious, thanks to our cook Giovanni. After breakfast, Mighael (our mule packer) broke down the tent as we began to hike, Each day, during our hike, were presented options for side views and more interesting route choices if desired (I recommend it!) Thanks to the local knowledge of our guide Adam, we were able to view Huayhuash from less crowded trails with more spectacular vantage points. During the day, lunch was served on the trail or in the base camp tent depending on length of the hike. Again it was "muy rico" or delicious and each meal was different than the last. They accommodated for our vegetarian meal preference with ease. After the hike was finished for the day, we would arrive to the campsite with our tent fully set up thanks to Mighael. Additionally, warm water and a towel were presented to you at the tent to clean off, which was glorious! Next tea time, followed by dinner (3 course meal) was prepared and I can't say enough good things about our cook Giovanni's skill with cooking in the mountains. The hikes were difficult, but we never doubted ourselves due to the support from Los Amigos de Huayhuash. I highly recommend them and look forward to utilizing their services again in the near future. Also check out Wilder, Anamin's husband for any guiding services for higher peaks and technical ascents. They made us feel at home during our stay, trek, and we were sad to say goodbye after an amazing 12 day experience.

Exceptional Huayhuash circuit trek with local adventure tour company "Los Amigos de Huayhuash
My husband and i, along with 4 friends, completed the spectacular cordillera huayhuash circuit with family run, local adventure tour company - Los Amigos de Huayhuash. A top notch experience from beginning to end including answering questions, detailed itineraries, help with transportation and accommodation before and after the trek and of course exceptional guiding with professional and efficient support during our trek. Our guide, Adolfo, was knowledgeable, patient and adaptable to all situations. I especially appreciated his local knowledge, having lived his entire life in the area and guiding in the huayhuash range for 17 years. And his ability to accommodate every client's needs smoothly and expertly. The remainder of our trekking crew included 2 chefs and 3 animal handlers who expertly managed our meals, gear, camp setup and tear down; as well as caring for, leading and packing the donkeys, mules and horses. Adolfo and crew led us to some very special locations, stunning camping spots and made us all feel incredibly lucky to be experiencing such a place. Los Amigos de Huayhuash made this a 10/10 experience! I would highly recommend them for an exceptional adventure tour company with extensive local knowledge

Fantastic Trip with Los Amigos de Huayhuash!
Los Amigos de Huayhuash were absolutely fantastic! Highly recommend this group for supported hikes. This is a locally run and operated group. Their guides and support staff grew up in the area and know the history and the terrain very well. It's nice to know we're supporting the local people. They took care of all of our needs and then some. They were easily willing to adapt the plans based on our needs/preferences. Attention to detail made this a very luxurious trip, with excellent food that was different for every meal and snack for afternoon tea-time.

12 Day Trek with Los Amigos de Huayhuash - Fabulous
Our 12-day private guided trek with Los Amigos de Huayhuash was the best experience we could have asked for. This local family-run business provided amazing service with comfortable walking pace, fantastic food, beautiful camp set up with nice large North Face tents for each couple and a large eating tent. Our trek took us off the beaten track to enjoy some vistas without any crowds. Stunning glaciers, aquamarine lakes and a host of critters including llamas, alpacas, vicuña, and chinchillas, as well as Andean condors and other birdlife. We enjoyed seeing the local families along the route, stopping to give some treats to the children at the farms. Our guide Adolfo was a host of knowledge about the culture and rural life in Peru. Our chef and assistant spoiled us with plenty of tasty foods as well as 4 lunches set up in scenic locations along our trek; wow – we felt spoiled. They also cooked the traditional earth oven Pachamanca meal for us one night; what a treat and so interesting to see how it is done. The staff looking after the horses and mules were polite, fast and efficient setting up and taking down camp. We were so happy to support this great family from the Huayhuash area. Anamin was incredibly helpful with booking and planning the trek, and we recommend them highly.

Los Amigos de Huayhuash family company exceeded all my expectations, everything was perfect! The guide new very good English, the food prepared by the chef was better than in a restaurant and everyone was very friendly, attentive to our needs and flexible. Not to mention the mountains, the views were really spectacular. I went for the full 15 days in Huayhuash and it was truly amazing. My favorite view was the Santa Rosa Pass, slightly bigger impression on me than the three lakes. And the contact with Anamin before the trek and staying at her house was excellent too. Just the best trekking experience I've ever had. Memories that will stay with me for ever. So thankful.

My wife and I did a six day trek with our two kids, ages 11 and 14. The entire team at Los Amigos de Huayhuash was incredible and made this one of the best trips we've ever done. Anamin was very responsive on email and answered all of our questions beforehand. She helped arrange a trip suited for our family. We stayed with Anamin and her husband, Wilder, for a few days before our trip to acclimatize. It was wonderful getting to know this family run operation. During the trip, our guide and cook were amazing and friendly. Highly recommended. Can't wait to come back.

Did the Cordillera Huayhuash Circuit with Explorandes (Explorandes.com). They did a fabulous job in all respects. The trip was well organized with 2 donkey drivers, a cook, and assistant cook, and a native Peruvian (English-speaking) guide. This was my third trip with Explorandes in Peru - previously had done the Inca Trail and the Cordillera Blanca Santa Cruz trek. Explorandes did a great job on each trip. Highly recommended if you are trekking in Peru.

We did a trek with Los Amigos de Huayhuash in June. Use this company, you will not regret it! They are a local family business based in Huarez and Chician and are wonderful people. They were able to tailor a trip length and itenerary that suited our abilities and available time. Anamin and her husband Wilder hosted us in their home for several days prior to our trek, and they were wonderful people and wonderful hosts. They helped us with taxis and transportation, picked us up at the bus station and dropped us off again at the end of the trip. Our 9 day trek was stunning- glacier-covered mountains, turquoise lakes, lupine flowers, vicunas and chinchillas among other natural wonders. Like one of the other reviews said, bring a very warm sleeping bag and a big down jacket and pants. Each night was below freezing. Adnair was a wonderful guide, Alec managed the burros that carried our stuff, and Tonio made gourmet quality meals for us throughout the trek- breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. At the end of the trip the family cooked a lovely local meal for us. I've never used a guide service before and wasn't sure what to expect, but I was very happy with the experience! Considering all the services provided the price was very reasonable.

Best experience ever!! What a great company!

We first arrived in Huaraz to get adjusted to the height, and were able to stay with Anamin and Wilder at their home. Anamin was very open and was excited to tell us about her favorite spots in Huaraz, the best hikes to do as preparation, and to just talk to us.

The 8-day trekking was a wonderful experience. The donkeys would carry our backpacks, so no need to worry about that. Then there were two cooks, who made fresh breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner for us every day. We never ate the same thing twice!! Even lunch at the pass was a fully cooked meal, and dinner was always a 3-course one. The food was better than we usually get in restaurants!

The guide and assistant guide were very nice and caring. Always checking whether we had a nice pace and if everyone’s doing alright. We had great conversations with them!

When we got back, Anamin and Wilder were waiting for us with a couple of beers to celebrate and finish the most fascinating 8 days ever with all the crew.

We could not have wished for a better company and better guidance throughout the whole trekking and stay in Huaraz. We would recommend Los Amigos to anyone!!

If you're looking for a customizable, authentic, and environmentally responsible company, choose Los Amigos de Huayhuash run by the Valdez Rivera family. My husband and I had an excellent experience with Los Amigos de Huayhaush, the Valdez Rivera family, and thoroughly enjoyed our 11 day trek in Cordillera Huayhuash and staying with Anamin and Wilder in Huaraz pre/post trek. The whole team was incredible and took great care to ensure our needs were met. Anamin, our main contact, was very thorough, responsive and went above and beyond helping us coordinate drivers, taxis and really anything we needed. Our trek team - Abner, our guide, Alec, the donkey driver, and Thono, our cook - made the trip unforgettable. From expert guiding, side trails to glaciers, delicious food (e.g., trout ceviche), practicing our Spanish and petting the donkeys (not to mention amazing views), we couldn't have asked for anything more. We were extremely happy with Los Amigos de Huayhuash and will use them for our next adventure. Also, we were thrilled to support a local family run business, who truly cares about you as a person, as well as, their animals and the environment.
