We were driving our moto by some small roads in Batuan village and saw the sign Museum. We decided to check it. And it was very good idea!
Museum Seni Batuan is a private museum. It has 3 buildings and presents painting from all families of artists of Batuan village. Batuan located close to Ubud and its style of painting is one of three which represent Ubud and Bali.
We had a private excursion because there is just NO tourists at all. It is open when somebody is coming. Collection can be compared to the main museum in Ubud which we visited a day before. But Seni museum is much more interesting. Also include a big collection of masks.
Me and my boyfriend spent there may be two hours in total and we promised to add the museum and review to the tripadvisor cause people need to know and visit this amazing place! All questions will be answered and you are welcome there like at home.
Museum also provides a big space for exhibitions of young artists, free of charge. Also schools visit the museum for free. The ticket for visitors costs 50 000. We thought it was quite a lot but after visit we agreed it totally worth it.
So we highly recommend to visit museum and Batuan village. Especially, if you want to see real hospital and friendly Bali and escape the crowds of tourists.

The museum displays diverse batuan style paintings from many local artists.
This traditional style painting explore the daily life and balinese mythology. Some painters experimented with colors, black & white, depth effect, and the story telling style.
I have visited Bali often, and we’re glad somebody listed it here, which we found out when we searched things to do.
