there are two arts markets in sukawati, the first one which is called sukawati arts market, after rennovation, already lost its balinese charms,it is now inside a new modern building.i never been to sukawati.when border reopened ,i have chance to revisit bali, then i want to come here before heading to my hotel in ubud.my driver took me to guwang, let me experience traditional market.it is closed to sukawati arts market, just like former ubud arts market(another one lost its Balinese elements in the future, cuz the authorities already started to renovate it),guwang arts market is very traditional arts market, lots of shops selling similar stuffs, have to bargain.that time, only me, no other tourists,i bought six balinese beach shorts, the price is not very cheap, just what i want to spend.maybe i dont know how to get a good price?hehe, anyway, the shorts are good quality when i tried it,same like what you get in other places,so it is ok,and more important is i love the shopping experience, cuz these kind of markets maybe vanished one day,you can see ubud ,denpasar, the local authorities love modern building more than traditional market. so if you have chance, try to come here, you dont need to buy anything if you dont want, just come to see,and enjoy it,maybe this is the last Bali style arts market…

This is probably best in price compare to Sukawati art market, definitely best if compared to Ubud’s. The seller will give you the high price but not as high as in ubud for the same thing. A same simple dress, cost only 30K at Guwang and it’s 180K at Ubud Market.
Guys, before you shop, it’s wise to go around and compare the prices...., though at guwang art market , some collection might not available, but it’s worth to visit.

Market is small, car free. Mostly clothing. Every stall sells same.
Not enough variety.
Wouldn't go specially to it. Nice if you passing.

My driver Jaya usually includes numerous visits to arts market on my itinerary because I am an arts enthusiast. Heading to Leigan from Ubud, he made a stop at Di Pasar Seni Guwang Sukawati (Guwang Arts Market). There is a large parking lot in front of the market, therefore many tourist buses are flooding in all the time. As no entrance fee is required, so many tourist groups that come from the Mainland China are in sight for bargain hunting Every stall there sells nearly the same goods, the difference just depends either on quality or the price itself. If time is not too tight, it is better to take a look first before making a decision. The shopkeepers persuade the customers by hook and by crook. The stalls that locate in narrow winding lanes always offer a lower price than those at the front, normally one third, perhaps the rent is the key factor. I came across a stall selling oil paintings, the themes and the sizes were all-inclusive. I realized that they were only copies for garage sale, but the salesgirl offered me at a discount. Out of my surprise, I got it with forty percent off.

We came across this art market after leaving the Sukawati Art Market and noticed that this one was much busier than the other so we decided to check it out. Lots of tour buses filled with China tourist.
Each shop has multiple people calling to enter their shop, it's annoying. It becomes a very chaotic with all the calling and shouting. Most shop are selling similar item so it's hard to decide who to buy from if you do find something.
Don't look at the shops placed at the front head behinds it's slightly quieter and since they have less foot traffic/business it's easier to haggle down the price.
But again not a must to come unless you have something to purchase.

This is not a large market. It is located just before the Sukawati Arts market. There is no entrance fee.
For art lovers, you can pick up some decent prints for a reasonable price. Other than that, its just rows and rows of stalls selling souverniers.....all stalls selling much the same items. T-shirts, bags, handbags, wooden items etc.
Be prepared for a bit of hustling as you walk pass the stalls. And be aware that they hike up the price. So be patient.... dont buy from the first stall you go to. Have a good look around, and get a 'feel' for what the real price of the items are.
What i found more interesting was outside the arts market. There were 2 shops by the road selling Balinese quilts. A far more useful souvernier from Bali.
I wouldnt travel out of my way to go to this market. But if you are on your way to Tegallalang, then you might as well make a short stop here to have a look around.

The Guwang art market is one of our main goals. Collection of goods here is very complete and the price is right cheap. So we bought more souvenirs to our family. But most advised should be smart bid.

Due to good reviews we decided to go there, but it is a horrible place with all the same things. Lots of tour busses and husstle. If you looking for nice souveniers go to the arts market and shopping street in Ubud! Forget this place!
