The Best Day Out

My wife, myself,and and our friends from the Midwest (it’s cold and we don’t surf often) decided to take lessons today. It was my third time out taking surfing lessons, but the first with Ricón Paddle Boards. Until today I was never able to stand up. The direction by our instructors, Justin and Brook, was straightforward and effective. Both gave group instructions, but also gave small personal advice and general surfing knowledge while preparing for the next wave. The attention they paid to us was unlike any or the surf school we’ve been to. Because of this everyone in our group was able to stand up. Surfing seems like a skill that takes a lifetime of learning, but being able to stand up is an amaaaaazing feeling the first time and definitely motivates you to keep it up. In that sense I can’t recommend Ricón Paddle Boards enough.

I would add that if you plan on going out (and haven’t before) that you seriously give yoga and lap swimming a try. The first time I tried surfing I was dead tired and wasted alot of time face down on my board catching my breath. A month or so of casual lap swimming at the local park and free YouTube yoga (Yoga with Adriene) made the world of difference in having a good base for the experience.

I can’t say enough about Rincón Paddles Boards. Definitely give them a try.

Excellent gear and super friendly

Chikako and Damiano are super friendly and knowledgeable, we had the best experience on our recent sup surf trip. They helped us reserve our gear and book lodging near the best breaks, and when we arrived at their shop right on a beautiful, easily accessible beach by the marina they let us try out all their boards, paddles and leashes until we had our setup dialed in. Throughout our trip they stayed in touch and gave us excellent recommendations where to score each day. By the end of the trip it was like saying bye to old friends! I can’t recommend Rincon Paddle Boards enough, make sure to check them out.

Surf Lesson with Justin - Rincon Paddleboards

We had such a wonderful experience with Rincon Paddleboards! My wife, sister, and I signed up for a private, afternoon surf lesson and I can’t say enough about how great it was. Chikako runs a very professional, efficient operation. After checking in at the shop on the beach, she led us down the road to meet our instructor, Justin. Justin is such a gem. He is very thorough, professional, and above all made us all feel like we were meant to be there on the water. He led us through a brief, but informative lesson on land and then we were off. The beach was beyond a hidden path and felt very secluded. The waves were consistent 2-4ft which were perfect for us beginners. Justin works very hard and with such a positive attitude. We all paddled out and one at a time, he lined us up for waves, and gave us the booster push so we could ride the waves. Each of us are beginners and with Justin’s expertise, we all rode multiple waves and had an amazing time. I think that says a lot of the instructor. The lesson is 2hrs, which might sound a bit short on paper, but it is plenty of time leaving one feeling invigorated and exhausted all at once. I give this operation a solid 5 out of 5 stars. Top notch, flight formation. Go get pitted with Rincon Paddleboards!

Best Surf Lesson ever!

This was my first surf trip to Rincón. I am a beginner surfer and was only planning to take one or two lessons, but the instructors, Damiano and Whit made me experience the fun of surfing, then I decided to take lessons for five days in a row! They both are friendly and professional. They gave me useful advice after every single ride and I felt that I was improving day by day. They prioritized safety at the surf spot which was very helpful and made me feel safe. I would highly recommend to take a surf lesson to enjoy the beautiful waves in Rincón!

Surf lessons for beginners

My friend and I took a 2 hour lesson with Justin and had a terrific time. The beach is perfect for beginners, with consistent waves that die out before you reach the beach (making it easy to get off the board and paddle back out). Justin consistently set us up perfectly to catch waves, and his pointers were extremely helpful. We had so much fun that we went back for a second session two days later. I can highly recommend Rincon Paddle Boards to anyone who is interested in trying to surf, but prefers doing so in a stress free and non-intimidating way. It was great!

Damiano, our guide and the whole team made me feel so welcomed. They are true pros who manage to create an atmosphere of safety while bringing the passion of water adventures to their clients. It was my first time trying paddle boarding and due to their encouragement I managed to stand up and paddle. I’m not young so it was a big deal for me. I loved it so much I went back the next day and took the snorkel / Kayak adventure and again was encouraged to push past my fears and ENJOY!
Besides having a brilliant time in a beautiful place , I left feeling more confident and truly grateful for this lovely experience. I highly recommend Rincon Paddle Boats!
You gotta do this!

Amazing

Damien is the best instructor. His initial speech helped us calm our nerves and then he went on to unlock our surfing potential. The entire team was super nice and they accommodated us even though we booked our slots late. I would definitely recommend him if you are a beginner at surfing.

Not enough great things to say about surfing lessons with Rincon Paddle Boards!

Every part of our experience with Rincon Paddle Boards was great. We are a family of four and were vacationing or a week on Puerto Rico. Our first three days were in Rincon and my two children (ages 10 & 17) took private surf lessons two days in a row. Chikako, Damiano and the entire staff were great. Easy to book over the phone, Chikako was great with texting and emailing confirmations. Both kids loved their lessons and their instructors. They each had a different instructor both days so we had the pleasure of meeting four instructors. All were great. The instruction was consistent between instructors, yet each had different tricks to share and personalized the lessons to the surfer and their abilities (or lack thereof LOL).

Everyone was great, very accommodating, made sure the kids and parents alike had plenty of water and were comfortable.

The staff were also really engaged with and encouraging to all those taking lessons.

Our kids have taken surf lessons on various vacations and I found the price and quality of instruction to be a great value.

Thank you for making or Christmas vacation a great one!

Friendly, professional instructors helped this middle aged, midwestern mom feel like a successful, first-time surfer!

Surfing lessons were really fun! We’re visiting Rincón from Michgian and I have always wanted to surf in the ocean.

I was a little nervous at first but our instructors, Brooke and Justin put us at ease. During the first part of the lesson we laid on our boards in the sand and Brooke simulated like she was a wave running through us. It was actually really effective! Then we paddled out and they sat with us to choose the best waves and then gave us a head start push so we could get enough speed! They were professional and sincerely enthusiastic.

Everyone in our group of four was able to stand up and ride waves! I’ll never forget it and can’t wait to try again.

Rincon Paddle Boards has creates something extraordinarily special

To be honest, I really don't know where to begin. Damiano has Rincon wired. He knows all of the breaks, where the best spots are based on swell and wind direction and exactly where to surf each break. He even has some hidden gems tucked away if spots get too crowded. He gave me a tour of the entire area and showed me all of the breaks along with how each wave behaves and the most favorable wind conditions and swell. Even on a flat day with no ground or wind swell he managed to pull a rabbit out of a hat and found waves for us to surf that were a lot of fun. Damiano is truly a master waterman. Chikako made me feel right at home like I was a member of the family. She has a magical way of putting people at ease and bringing out the best in them. The location is out of a picture book. You can't ask for a better beach in Rincon to spend the day. For the Moms and Dads out there, Rincon Paddle Boards are who you want to teach your kids how to surf or paddle board surf. The kids will have an absolute blast. I know this review may seem a little over the top, but wait until you meet Chikako and Damiano and then you will understand. Thank you both for a wonderful time.
